ROH Results 6/3 'Destiny': American Dragon vs. Homicide
Special Challenge Match
Jimmy Rave with Prince Nana vs. the debuting Davey Richards This was the first match I believe of the night. The show was supposed to start at 7:30 and I got there was 15 minutes before that. Anyway, Rave came out and right away generated a ton of heat. People started throwing rolls of toilet paper at him, which he picked up and threw back into the crowd. My friend wasn't looking and almost caught one right in the face. The match started off slow as nobody knew who Richards was so the crowd was pretty quiet but then they started getting all over Rave again when Richards started to dominate. Chants like "Fuck you Jimmy" and "Die Jimmy Die". There was also a man who kept getting up and yelling while wearing a Green Lantern shirt, so throughout the whole show we all chanted "F*** Green Lantern". I was surprised at the outcome of this. Rave got dominated most of the match, then had a flurry where you thought he'd pull it out, but Richards wasn't having it. Richards won to my surprise. A match happened when I went to the bathroom and was over before I got back. My friend said it was a guy that looked like Twisted Sister against a short brown haired man with little build. Apparently, they were fighting over a trophy and the short haired guy won. While I went to the bathroom I did run into Samoa Joe though who was just walking in the front door of the building. No bodyguard. People were cool with him though, he is a God, and he said "Watch me later tonight". Daizee Haze vs. Sara Del Rey I got back just as the women's match was starting. Crowd was pretty dead throughout the match but these women could really wrestle, especially Sara. Sara won the match and out came Bryan Danielson. He quickly put over the women's match and said that Sara is the best women's wrestler in the world. Fans applauded the women but then broke out into a "Shut the f*** up" chant when Bryan started talking about Homicide. Danielson said he was angered by the fact that this show was called "Destiny" because it implies that Homicide is destined to win the World Title. Danielson said that wasn't going to happen and added that he's the best wrestler in the world. Four Corner Survival For World Title Shot Adam Pearce vs. Colt Cabana vs. Delirious vs. Jason Blade Crowd was huge into Delirious this whole match. Delirious did his usual crazy man shtick running around the ring, while the other men looked on like "what the hell is he doing?". Crowd also ate up Cabana's comedy during the match. I liked how he'd make fun of the others moves saying sarcastically "Oh yeah, that's really gonna get it done". Cabana also displayed some nice mat wrestling during the contest. In my opinion, Jason Blade was the MVP of the match though. He kept everything moving along fairly quickly but the crowd just wasn't into this that much. Pearce only played a small role. Cabana picked up the win, so I guess he'll be getting the next shot. Crowd was mixed on the outcome. Grudge Match Christopher Daniels with Allison Danger vs. BJ Whitmer Biggest pop on the night to this point went to The Fallen Angel, I guess that's no surprise. Before the match, BJ apologized for all he had done to Allison and Daniels, I'm not to in on what has gone on in their rivalry but Daniels accepted a handshake. I was very surprised on how this match went with Daniels dominating most of the match and then pinning BJ with the BME. I thought BJ would put up more of a fight but oh well. Post-match Daniels got on the mic and put over BJ as a tough SOB, etc.. and he said if BJ ever needs a partner in the war against CZW, he'd be more then williing to help him out. Allison got on the mic and first told someone to shut up in the crowd which generated a "You got Served" chant. Then she apologized to BJ in which someone yelled "Get on your knees and show him you really love him!". Intermission Dragon Gate Challenge Match Shingo Takagi vs. Ricky Reyes with Julius Smokes I don't know what happened but after the intermission the crowd was nuts. They were ok before this but now they were really getting into it. Made for a cool atmosphere. This was by far the match of the night to this point. The crowd was more on Ricky Reyes side in the beginning chanting "BBBBlaaatt, BBBBlaaatt!" but Shingo won them over quick. The match was very high paced with a lot of good moves back and forth. Shingo was very intense the whole match and ended up winning with what looked like a reverse death valley driver. Smokes was a riot on the outside. ROH World Title Match Bryan Danielson defends vs. Homicide with Julius Smokes Huge "Homicide!" chant before the the introductions. The match was about to get under way when Samoa Joe's music hit and the place went crazy. Joe got on the mic and talked up Homicide calling him a warrior and that he appreciated all Homicide had done for ROH in recent months. Danielson got on the mic and complained that he's the champion and asked why Joe was even out there. Crowd started chanting "Joe's gonna Kill You" which brought a smile to Joe's face. Joe said he was the guest ring announcer and then introduced both men. Joe called this the "Semi-Main Event" which pissed off Danielson further. It was true as the tag titles still had to be decided. I absolutely loved this match as it was a nice contrasting of styles. Early on there was a lot of brawling outside of the ring which actually quieted the crowd down a bit but once they got back in the ring that changed quickly. Smokes again was a riot but didn't play much a factor in this as he shouldn't. It was all Danielson and Homicide, who's the better man? I hadn't seen all that much of Danielson but he reminds me of a more athletic William Regal. He uses a similar stance and chain wrestling, but he's more then just that. He through a few aerial moves out there and towards the end a couple of submission holds that I had never seen before. The last 5-10 minutes were tremendous as the two traded a bunch of near falls, a couple of which everyone really thought Homicide was going to win. But then, out of nowhere the match ended. Danielson had Homicide in a submission on the mat and the referee called for the bell. Quickly the fans chanted "Bullshit" as it was clear, Homicide never tapped or submitted. Samoa Joe got in the ring and started questioning the decision as the fans chanted "5 more minutes!". The ref declined to change his decision and Homicide attacked him. Joe pulled Homicide off and out came The Lt. Commisioner. He said he just got off the phone with Jim Cornett a while they agreed that Homicide never gave up or tapped, "In the best interest of the athletes" the match wouldn't continue. Homicide again attacked the ref (who I think) was Sinclair. Joe tried to pull him and Smokes off but was clipped from behind by Danielson. Joe fell to the ground holding his knee and was helped to the back. Homicide got on the mic and said he was sick of the bullsh** and "I'm done with this f***ing company". As he left the fans chanted "E-C-W!" ROH Tag Team Title Match Austin Aries & Roderick Strong defend vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe This was another very good match, lots of cool double team spots. Fans were into Strong and Aries in the beginning but then started to side with the Briscoes. The match went back and forth and was pretty fast paced throughout. Briscoes had a lot of near falls but in the end fell just short. Aries and Strong won with what was Aries dropkicking the man off the top as Strong powerbombed him to the mat. ---------------------- To clarify on the Dragon/Cide finish, Dragon was hitting him with elbows in a crucifix position. ![]() ![]() |
