What has a better chance of happening?
Yeah, I'd like to be alive to see them win the Superbowl.

Next year if everyone's healthy they can have a very good team. Mariuci'll have had a year of experience with them as well, so he'll know what to do with them. Rogers will be there, so they'll have a big play threat. Stewart will be back, so they'll at least have a good runningback if they resign him. I'm pretty excited about next year, but I don't think they'll make the playoffs. Two or three years and we'll talk

I doubt they'll win it in the next 5 years.

Me too, but I guarantee they'll make the play-offs in that time.
Last year I said they'd break .500 this year... they came close. ![]() ![]() |

The Lions are the ultimate hard-luck story in the NFL this season. They come in as the worst team in the league (excepting the Bengals) over the last half-decade. They start off with a very good showing against the Cardinals, and then people start going down.
I, however, am still not sold on Stewart. He had a good year in Jacksonville (I think?), but he has not shown me that he's the answer to the Lions' running back woes. I was actually a bit glad when Stewart went down this year, because I knew that meant that Joey would be taking it into the air. Another couple of years, and Harrington will be a top QB in this league, but if he's anchored to a plodding back like Stewart and it may not happen. |

I totally agree, Stewart is nothing special. He's not really suited for their offense either. Still though, he's better than what they have now, at the very least.

Anything can happen in football, its not like any other sport where mainly the same few teams are really good every year for like 8 years in a row.
You never know what can happen...if they get a better running back, defense plays over their heads for a season you never know what can happen. They got a good core with Rogers and Harrington |

The Lions will be good in the next few years without a doubt. They were starting to mesh later this season and when Harrington matures a little more and Rogers comes back, plus they will have a relatively good draft pick this year, they'll eventually be good.

But yeah, Stewart's contract is up this year anyways, so they might not even re-sign him. IMO like Miz said, Bryson is better for them. They should stick with him as their starter. Maybe they'll draft a runningback in next year's draft? I dunno.
Next year if their receivers are healthy they should be in good shape. Rogers as the #1, Hakim as #2 and Anderson as #3, and either Shroeder or Kircus as their fourth. Or hell, even put Ricks back on WR and use Fitzsimmons as their TE as he's been pretty impressive this year. |

I thought I read that there was a really good tightend in the draft coming up, like ranked higher then Shockey was... they should go for him...

They don't really need a tight end though, to be honest. Well I mean, it would be nice, but they're hurting in a lot more spots that need attention before TE...

i actually think a running-back-by-committee system (like they have right now) could work for them. i mean bryson isn't jamal lewis or priest holmes, i'm just saying he's better than gary and stewart.
it would be dumb to draft another running back IMO, they have greater concerns at other positions, mainly on the other side of the ball. |

Well they have a great D-line, and all their corners are injured. If all their corners are healthy next season, they wouldn't really be that bad, to be honest. Bly, Cash, Walker, and Smith aren't bad. But yeah they can use help there too just in case.
I think that other than corner, runningback is their weakest position. Their O-line is pretty good too, they're the least-sacked team in the league still I think. Joey is hardly ever rushed, so there's not a problem there either. I just hope they pick someone gooddddd |

i was thinking more at the linebacker and safety positions.

I think I would cream myself if they drafted Perry
But yeah, their linebackers aren't that great... Barret Green is looking pretty good, Holmes is always solid, and Boss Bailey is going to be one of the league's best in 3 or 4 years, mark my words. They could improve, maybe get a better MLB, but Holmes isn't that bad really. They're not that good right now, but as Bailey matures they'll play much better Man I hate being so optimistic, makes me sound like some kind of Boston fan, trying to make like everything about the team sound awesome ![]() |

james stewart blows. he had one good season in jacksonville but he really is nothing to write home about.
shawn bryson hasn't been given his chance, he's more suited for the lions and in my opinion the more talented runner. |

I think Sean Taylor would be solid for the Lions. As it stands right now the Lions would draft around 6-8? He's in the Roy Williams mold of hard hitting safeties.

Morcheeba are you talking about Winslow? Yea he's pretty good but he'll be off the board early this year in the weak draft.
Maybe the Lions pick up Michigan U running back Chris Perry in the draft?? |

I was reading a bunch of mock drafts by nfl analysts and stuff and they all seem to think the lions are gonna pick a RB this year with there first pick. :meh:

They should. They took Bailey, Redding, and Holt this year, so they've got a lot of young guys on D. Although, they DID take Pinner, so they probably won't take another RB unless a really good one is available or something.
