Some anime suggestions.

It has come to my attention that my film collection needs a new addition to the anime department. I'm asking for suggestions of what would be a good series to watch. However, I'm looking for something that has alot of episodes to it and many a DVD to purchase. Lately, I've been waking up from bad dreams now and then and catching Ghost in the Shell and Evangelion on Adult Swim and those look promising.

I have in my collection:

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Ninja Scroll the series (and the feature length film)
3. Saiyuki
4. Heat Guy J
5. Outlaw Star

So what's good to watch?

No suggestions, but I'd just like to say that Ninja Scroll is the man.

GITS 2nd GIG is really good so far. Evangelion is awesome. Look for Guyver if you've heard of him, too (2005). People say Lain is good...

Got the Mark Hammil movie collecting dust. I'll poke around for the series.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the greatest anime, TV show, anything! Period! Definately invest in that. It is very complex though, so be prepared to think and get lost in it, not just mindless action ala Dragonball Z (not that DBZ isnt great too). There are two movies also, and both are good, though one is more of a summary of the series. The main film 'End Of Evangelion' is a masterpeice. You can watch it 50 times and still not understand everything about it (and the rest of the series for that matter) due to its insane ammount of depth in a wide variety of issues. There was a Chuck Norris joke in an email I got from a friend that read "Chuck Norris understood End Of Eva the first time he saw it" :P.

Cowboy Bebop is awesome too. It's my 2nd fav series behind Eva. There is also a movie if youre interested, and it's pretty darn good too.
Samurai Champloo is another good TV series, made by the guy who did Cowboy Bebop and shares similarities with it. Ultimately not as good though IMO.

Akira is a great anime film, the best IMO. Ghost In The Shell is ok too, though over-rated I think. Then there is Spriggan which is OK and a whole hoard of Matrix style tish out there.

The Ninja Scroll film is indeed the man.

Anymore questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them, as I am an anime fan of sorts. I've only been into it for about a year or so (Eva exempt, I got into that when I was a young teenager), but I've become immersed in it and have a thorough knowledge I can share with you.

Gungrave is probably one of my favorite animes ever, followed by the original Gundam Wing and then Hellsing. I really don't watch much anime.. I prefer the more serious ones.

For instance, I absolutely HATE Inuyasha.

Metropolis and Ghost in the shell (both the series and movies). Guyver is cool.

I'll also second that Akira is a great Anime movie.

My fiancee really enjoyed Spirited Away...I wasn't that keen on it.

Can anyone let me know what Howl's Moving Castle is like?

Howl's Moving Castle was great. They put together one hell of a voice cast for that movie. You may get lost, but it all comes together in the end.
