I almost voted for 2000 just because of the Disturbed theme tune, but he really wasn't around enough in 2000 to justify that. He was at his vicious best in 1997 as the hyena-like pottymouth who was the highlight of the WWF.

It's a shame 2001 wasn't an option, though. That may have been Austin's best year IMO. First he was at his best in the first three months as the popular babyface, then he turned heel and became a deranged, song-singing, guitar-playing, McMahon-hugging comedy genius. Then he was involved in one of my all-time favourite angles, where he came to the rescue of the WWF against the Alliance, but later tunred on them again. And he finished the year as a babyface again, feuding with Booker T and the Big Bossman with the hilarious (at the time anyway) "WHAT?" gimmick and the supermarket brawl.
