I really wish that Comrie and the Oilers could patch things up. The Oil could really use his talent up front and Comrie's the hometown kid, isn't he?
Unfortunately it doesn't look like that will happen. |

Comrie doesn't want to play for edmonton though... He is a hometown kid and thats why he doesn't want to play there. I believe his dad is a very succesful business man in Edmonton so he doesn't like the presure to play there.

Lowe is an idiot. Seriously, that's the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever heard.
That's like say you worked at a job for 3 years and made a total of say 100,000 dollars or something, and then you decide to quit and the company demands you give them their 100,000 dollars back. Why Kevin Lowe would even think something so retarded is beyond me. |

This all started last season when Craig MacTavish went on a rant at the end of the season and said players like Comrie should pick it up. The guy only has one move and all the NHL goalies have seen it already. Anyhow, to the story. Comrie whined cause he thinks he's above the coach and GM and wanted a new contract to be signed, thinking he was worth more. I think $8 million over 2 and a half years sounds good to me. They kept things quiet in the media and that's when Comrie came out and started to whine again about how he was treated here and wanted an out but since the Oil were playing well, why bother? This all has come to a head because of the 30 teams that are in the NHL, the Ducks are the only ones really looking into him. Lowe looked at what they had to offer and since there's nothing there that the Ducks would trade for Comrie - the money offer has been established. And Psycho, read the articles. Your analogy is wrong. This is comparable to a employee signing a deal to work for so much a year and then stopped working in the middle of it all. Comrie had a personal services contract, like Wayne Gretzky first signed. It was dated UNTIL he was a unrestricted free agent. I say good on the Oil for this, it shows that they won't get ****ed around by a no talent pretty boy who has had his entire life served to him on a silver platter. And think of the example this will set for future free agents - the Oil are at the front of something once again ![]() |

And the contract which is already signed is going to be paying him $2 million a year and not half a million. YOUR Hero, it's too risky to think two first rounders are going to have talent. For every Dan Heatley, there are hundreds of others that don't make the cut. |

Of course the sucess rate is low, not as low when it's 1st rounders, but they've got nothing beter offered and Comrie isn't playing for them. |

it really isn't that bad, he said he wanted money in the deal to, and since Anahiem wouldn't give them any he told Comrie to pay or sit at home and do jackshit like he is now.

Meh, this whole situation is retarded. Just trade him and move on with it. The Oilers haven't been paying him this season anyways, so it's not like he made any money that he didn't deserve or anything.

im with Lowe stick to your guns and don't let a player be above the team. Yashin tried it in ottawa then cried to come back, then got traded and has played like shit since. lol

i'm all for letting players rot but if they've allready worked out a deal with anaheim then what's the problem? that's going overboard IMO. if they don't want to trade his rights they don't have to but why bother trying to work out a deal to begin with. |

well I heard that Lowe told anahiem before they made a deal that he wanted to talk to comrie before the deal was final. It just so happend that Comrie and the ducks worked out a deal before Lowe got a chance to talk to comrie, so that's what went down or something.

IMO a player should never have to put in his own money unless he was under contract and was trying to buy a release or something for the time owing. if anything it should be part of the deal that anaheim pays it. |

Well they already made the deal with Anaheim. Anaheim's GM told the Oilers that they already have their contract with Comrie sorted, and that they (Oilers/Comrie) have to settle their own dispute, and that Anaheim isn't going to get involved.

Oilers wre in the wrong for what they're asking for from Comrie. I don't mind letting him rot, but now they're jeapordizing 2 1st round picks. Stupid.

well basically what I read in the paper today, the reason the oilers want the money is that it equals the pay of those two first rounders for the first year.

how do they know these 1st rounders are even gonna be worth it, I mean they're just as happy with Comrie not doing shit all.. Comrie is however a 60 plus point getter and they know that. I don't see it being stupid on the Oilers part at all.

Cheebs, key word might. They're pissing on thier own future for a point they're trying to make today. They've already left him out to rot. Which, like I said I'm ok with. It's the yank on his chain when a deal looks done that's pure stupid.
