Does anyone even care about SummerSlam? It seems so much more rushed than last year, and last year was bad enough as it is.

I don't know. I was originally going to order it (as this past WrestleMania was my first bought PPV I said I would be buying the big 4 plus the ECW PPV), but with such a meh card, I may actually pass.

I live in Boston and I haven't even attempted to get tickets. Not even sure I'm gonna order it this year. My interest in wrestling has seriously declined this summer.

However, being the weakling I am, I will probably cave in and buy it.

I'm gonna be honest with you wonderful people, but since spoilers are going to be mentioned, you must highlight.

I was going to pass this up, but Mick Foley vs Ric Flair, I Quit... Yea, I'm a mark for Flair. I'll admit it, and maybe even start a thread explaining why. For the past few weeks Foley/Flair has been the highlight of Raw for me. I have a great respect for both men, and tonight when Mick Foley, once again, blamed Ric Flair for Foley being held down in WCW I marked out. My right eye started to twitch (a few people know that this means I'm pissed) because THERE WAS AN ENTIRE FUCKING COMMITEE, NOT JUST RIC FLAIR that couldn't figure out what to do with Cactus.

Yea. I'm getting it.

How can anyone expect someone who had 60 min matches night after night for the NWA title to be able to book? So what if Flair wasn't the best booker. Did Foley ever book a card in his life? I don't think so, so who the hell is he to say that The Nature Boy was a bad booker? Did "Judy Bagwell On A Pole" or anything like that happen during Ric Flair's reign? No. Was Katie Vick mentioned when Ric Flair was a booker? No. Hell, was a giant body slammed by someone who claimed to be the first man to do it while Harley Race did it years ago? Any of this under Flair's watch? No.

Now I have a world of respect for Mick Foley. He's a great prefomer, but not a good wrestler. Kurt Angle didn't need to fall of a cell to be famous. Triple H never needed to pull a sock out of his pants to become a champion. HBK didn't need to have three personas to make it big. Ricky Steamboat didn't need thumbtacks to make his name. Bret Hart didn't need to be a hard core wrestler to get in the WWE Hall Of Fame. Steve Austin didn't need to lose an ear to get into the main event.

Foley is a hell of a prefomer who gave more of his body do entertain us than Ric Flair gave us. I'll even say he gave more of his body than any other man on the roster within the past five years. Ric Flair wasn't a part of the highest rated Raw segment. In fact Ric Flair has done some pretty stupid things on camera. The fact of the matter is Mick Foley fell through the cracks of WCW. So did Steve Austin and look how big he made it. Vince gave Foley a chance, and Foley became a guy who we'll talk about five years from now simply because he made an impact on wrestling.
Now while Foley pissed and moaned about being let go of WCW some other wrestlers did a damn thing about it. Hey, Foley did his thing. He kept on wrestling and became a household name. Years later he wants to bitch about having that burden being taken off of him? What the fuck?

The whole point of that part of the book was that Steve Austin and Mick Foley became famous and Ric did not know what to do with them.

Then again I hate Ric Flair and love Foley.

Hold on- Read To Be The Man. Ric Flair wanted to keep Steve Austin. The other people wanted him gone. He knew Austin was going to make it big, but he wanted Austin to make it big in WCW. He went to bat for Steve, but no one else in WCW would give him that chance.

Then again I respect Mick Foley and love Flair.

I’d rather have an apologist attitude than be a sanctimonious brat. So everyone here thinks that Ric Flair held Mick Foley down? Ric Flair is responsible for Mick Foley not making it big in WCW? I’m entitled to argue the other side of the story. So instead of just telling to shut the fuck up, tell me why I’m wrong. Tell me why you disagree. Be a little bit more articulate than just “shut the fuck up.”
I’d rather be proven wrong than just being told to shut up. Maybe there’s something in one of Mick Foley’s books I’ve missed. Maybe there’s something in Ric Flair’s book that I missed. Maybe there’s a shoot interview out there and blog that I haven’t found that says “Ric Flair stuck it in Mick’s ass during their time in WCW.”
So come on, either agree with me or disagree with me and tell me why, but don’t throw the classic sophomoric line “shut the fuck up” at me.
