Altered Finishes

Anyone know of any match finishes that had to altered mid-match?

An example would be when Austin broke his neck and instead of stunning Owen, he had to give him a weak roll-up.

I'm not sure exactly, but I think the finish in the Tag Match at SNME was supposed to be Batista over Mark Henry, not Booker T, but obviously Henry was injured.

First one that came to mind was WMVIII. Hogan vs Sid, Sid was supposed to lie down for Hogan but decided to shoot on him. Cue Papa Shango.

I thought it was said that Shango missed his cue to run in and cause the DQ so (although Sid was never *supposed* to) he "had" to kick out!

Anyways this is definately one...

Lesnar/Angle WM19

pretty sure Brock wudda won with the SSP if he had landed it, as he didn't he nailed another F5 to get the win.

Muhammad Hassan's first loss was by DQ to Chris Benoit on a Raw. Hassan was supposed to win by hitting Chris Benoit in the head with the ring bell has he came off with a diving headbutt, but something or other fucked up and it didn't quite work out that way.

There was this one time in 1997 when Bret Hart was fighting HBK. Someone was susposed to run in and cause a DQ, but for the record HBK won via submission.

Most people remember the after math of Sting-Johnny B. Badd where Cactus Jack came out and did his perfect Diving Elbow.

What People DON'T remember is that the Refrigerator box came out EARLY. Badd and Sting both stopped what they were doing and looked at it for a minute. Then Collar and elbow... Sting wins with a Small Package out of the Roll-up.

Trish vs Mickie James earlier this year when Mickie won by a ridiculous "choking" DQ after Trish seperated her shoulder.

Also, New year's Revolution in 2005 when both of the first two matches ended early due to injuries to Lita and Eugene.

I could swear that there was a match this year where Chris Masters forgot to kick out early and the ref counted three before he kicked out, but they played it off as if he beat the count.

I remember seeing a Hogan match, it may have been Mania 2, where he was in the bear hug and his arm went down like 4 times because he couldn't count. And Vince or Jesse confirmed that it "Had to be down three times!" to lose the match.

Another Trish/Mickie one was at WM22, pretty sure Mickie would have won with the Stratusfaction but botched so won with a poor Chick Kick instead.

Not quite sure about this incident but Rock/Angle at No Way Out 2001 had a weird finish...

Rock nailed the Rock Bottom, Hebner counted the 1-2- and then sort of counted the 3 on Rocky and thus break the pinfall. So Rock nailed another RB and got the win. Twas a bit weird!

I thought it was supposed to end differently. Could've sworn Nick Patrick fucked up. Maybe Hogan still wasn't going to lose cleanly, but it was supposed to happen differently.

Well : it was an intentional fuck up see..
Sting was supposed to win clean however the ending had to be re-worked because Hogan, with a Creative Control clause in his contract, wanted to beat Sting, whom the bookers had already decided would win. In order to keep the booking plans in place and to appease Hogan, it was decided that Hogan would beat Sting after an alleged "fast count" by referee Nick Patrick. Bret ould accuse Patrick and have the match restarted with Sting winning by submission. This finish was executed at StarrCade, and after a rematch the following night on WCW Monday Nitro, the title became vacant.

Seems more plausible that Hogan was being a bitch than a grown man not being able to count to 3..(wait he was a "WCW" ref..

Sometimes when I look away for a second, I'll hear the ref intitially drop to the mat, which registers as a one count in my head. Then I look and see him count two, and I'll think it's three and go nuts.

On the Sting vs. Hogan Starrcade situation, the one thing that didn't go as planned was that Nick Patrick's count was supposedly fast, but if you watch, it wasn't really any quicker than a normal count.

The Royal Rumble where Batista won wasn't meant to have a restart. Batista fucked up and went over the top rope at the same time as Cena.

So it was a botch that caused Vince to botch entering the ring.

Cool.

It was a botch that made Vince bust into a version of the funky chicken dance.

I remember that match where the middle rope broke so Jericho had to do a moonsault off the top instead of the lionsault. I seem to remember Goldust being in the match, but I don't remember who else.

Jericho and Christian vs Booker T and Goldust at No Mercy 2002. I laughed so much at Jericho's reaction when it went.

That night on Smackdown where The Radicalz had their debut matches with DX. I don't think The Outlaws were meant to go over and I know Guerrero wasn't meant to break his arm on that frog splash.
