I think TNA would be a huge company. We'd have Hogan and Jarrett's egos going at it, so Jarrett leaves WCW, TNA signs a lot of ECW talent (and they don't job to CM Punk on a weekly basis), and then tear down WCW to make the NWA the biggest promotion, yet again.

There would never, ever be any clean finishes, and factions would suck out loud. Ex. Regal turns on Booker and Finlay, and is replaced be Kennedy. Then Booker ,Finlay, and Kennedy would jump Regal. Then Regal would find a partner in Lashley. While Lashley and Regal and taking on Book, Finlay, and Kennedy, Kennedy turns on Book. Then next week, Kennedy and Regal rejoin Book and finlay in jumping lashley. After 5 weeks, it is revealed that this was planned all along to destroy Lashey. Typical stupid-ass WCW booking. Maybe I went into to much detail, though....

According to his plan for WCW when he and Fusient were investing towards the purchase he was allegedly going to start phasing out Hogan and some of the older guys as there just wasn't room in the budget for their salaries.

Well, let's say the WWE did die out. I doubt we'd have a lot of the memorable WCW moments because a lot of it was done simply to outdo whatever the WWE was doing. Goldberg and Hogan was done on free TV allegedly just to beat out Raw in the ratings. Goldberg was WCW's answer to Ken Shamrock. It'd be kind of like WWE in 2002 where they just wouldn't have tried with the creativity because there'd be no one to beat.

If WWE had died in 1997 or 1998 I suspect that ECW would still be around. Don't ask me why. I also suspect ECW would have passed WCW by now...

Alright, I'll play along with the Kurt thing. So we're assuming Kurt gets over his ECW shock and signs with the only big name in town, WCW. It comes down to a matter of managment. Look at Bret Hart. Everything was pretty much cast in the dye for them and they blew it. Now we've got them signing a big time amatuer wrestler who won a gold medal and everything. It's safe to say they might not have had much for him to do either because their concern was consistently pushing what made them successful until the point where it didn't draw anymore. He'd have been mainly used as mid-card filler because of his wrestling ability a la Malenko, Jericho, and Guerrero. I doubt he'd have reached the heights he did in WWE.

I'm happy that WCW went under also. They had some stupid shit. I just wish TNA would get better. Not so TNA could take over the wrestling world, but if WWE has a threat to their ratings that isn't Johnny Ace they'll get their heads out of their asses and make wrestling a little more watchable.

If WWF died out in 1997 or 1998 then that would mean in the years leading up to this, they would have been dwindling down in numerous areas. One such area would be the amount of money Vince had to spend on acquiring talent. For example, Ken Shamrock might never had joined WWF in 1997 if they couldn't afford him.

And Vince also wouldn't be able to support ECW under the table. I think if WWF went out of business in 1997/1998, ECW would have gone out sooner than 2001. Bischoff would have free reign on all the talent in ECW and would simply use the mighty $$$ to persuade them to jump ship.

Also, if there was no WWF in 1999, then guys like Big Show, Chris Jericho, Beniot, and Eddie Guerrero couldn't have jumped ship to WWF. If ECW was still afloat they could consider going there but I don't know if Heyman could have afforded them.

The Montreal Screwjob would have never taken place. Like I said before, WWF wouldn't have just gone out of business all of sudden in 1997/1998, it would be a gradual collapse. Thus, Bret Hart, although initially loyal to the WWF, may have never signed his 20 year(or was it lifetime?) contract with Vince. If the signs for failure were obvious in February 1996, then Hart may have been more willing to negotiate with Bischoff then.

The actual style of wrestling would be different. WCW was never as entertainment-oriented as WWE(excluding late 1999-2000 WCW). WCW was closer to the old NWA Mid Atlantic style that was prevalent in the 80's.

And I'm sure there are many other things, but the number of 3rd variables to take into account are enourmous.
