Florida Panthers goaltending situation may not be as bad as people think

With Ed Belfour passed his prime and with Alex Auld not *quite* a superstar goalie, one might think that the Panthers could be very average between the pipes.

Think again.

Ed Belfour may be passed his prime, but he might still be able to play well with a small workload.

Alex Auld has also played BRILLIANTLY when he's had a light load.

If Belfour and Auld both play around 40 games for the Panthers this season, then why COULDN"T they both have great seasons?

If I'm not mistaken, both Mike Vernon and Chris Osgood (both very good....but not great goalies at the time) helped lead the Detroit Redwings to a Stanley Cup victory in 1997.

I'm not suggesting that the Panthers will be cup-contenders this year, but don't be surprised if goaltending is one of their strong points.

Ed Belfour may help mold Alex Auld into becoming a star as well.
