If Owen Hart was still alive...
What do you think would of become of him? Do you think he would have gotten his shot as world champ by now? Would he have stayed with WWE throughout the MNW? Would he still be under contract? Owen Hart is my all-time favorite wrestler even before Benoit and I was just wondering what everyone thinks would of happened to him if he didn't tragically pass away.

This has been done countless times over and it's been agreed that he'd still be in the mid-card just as he was before he passed to sort of get at Bret. They had him doing the Blue Blazer schtick again for crying out loud.

Nah, he'd be one of their top guys by now. Like I'm talking about their main event guy, over John Cena. The WWE was going through a phase where they were actually putting guys with talent in the main event. Chris Jericho got the belt, Chris Benoit got the belt, Eddie Guerrero got the belt, Rey Mysterio got the belt, Kurt Angle got the belt, Edge got the belt, I guarantee Owen Hart would have gotten the belt.

good point. but i wonder if Owen would have stuck around. I mean i don't know how Owen and Vince's relationship was but i'm guessing it wasn't great.

WCW folded, and Owen probably would have been a major player in the Alliance angle. I could have easily seen him taking Kurt Angle's place in the feud as the WWE's main guy. I could have very easily seen them give him the 2001 King of the Ring victory. The guy's legend may have grown in death, but I do think the WWE had the intention of using him. Paul Heyman was booker for SmackDown! for a while, and that seems the fitting brand for Owen Hart. Can you honestly say you don't believe Heyman would have used Hart well. TNA is the only other path for Owen Hart to follow, and thus far, only Christian has made the leap willingly. Hart may have done it, but TNA's success probably wouldn't have compared to what the WWE was giving him. I really believe Owen Hart would be the top guy in the WWE. |

Heyman would've been the best thing for Owen. If it did go down that way i could see Owen being a top guy, we all know he could do it, he just never really got the shot.

Owen would never of been WWF champ, NEVER.
But if you think that he would of stayed in WWF after all the shit you must be insane. He would of done a big money move to WCW with Bret pushing big time for him, he would of gotten whored around alot in stables like NWO v5.0 and probably a an upper card feud with Bret somewhere down the line. After Bret got hurt an Owen Goldberg feud would start, that would push him to the main event, and then at the point where Russo was booking and putting the title on anyone to see what shit would stick against the wall, he'd give Owen a title run as WCW champ |

To elaborate on this I have to say no. Owen Hart would not have won the WWF championship. Owen's contract was coming up. It was a well known fact that Owen really didn't want another contract because he didn't like the direction wrestling was heading in. He was good with money; so he could retire happily. 9 more months of the Blue Blazer and then the end. Probably a good IC reign jobs it to someone after a hot feud, retires.

I don't know. He was so talented that he was an undeniable Main eventer, but he may have been a val venis type by now, or a jobber. With the way the WWE works, he may have been a retired jobber, or he may have been champ, or they may have given him a belt to coax Bret to come back.

He would be reitred. He was fet up with Pro-Wrestling. Most of everything I have read says he was going to win that night. We will never know though, no sense in arguing over speculation.

Sorry, I've only been here this year so I haven't seen this thread before and if I remember correct there was a rumor that Owen was trying to smooth things over with Vince and Bret to get him back to WWE but I bet it was just a strong rumor and if Owen was still with the company, I think he would have been a main eventer by now.

How do you think Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, etc, got in the main event? Time and patients. Owen would have been no different. Maybe you should get a brain. |

Owen had all the skills necessary to main event and be a top guy. Most naturally gifted atheltic wrestler there was, mixed in with the very fact he was a great in ring technician. Did he have enough drive to be the top guy? Maybe not. That's his only fault if one can call it that.
If he had stayed around and not retired then sure thing, he would have been a champ. Had he retired before that, he still would have left behind a great career. |

He prob would have gotten jobbed out, retired or gone to WCW. But theres always the possibility that they would have finally rewarded his talent and hard work, probably within the past few years along with guys like benoit, eddie, rey and booker etc. if he hung in long enough.
This question got me thinking how great it could have been to have him make a huge heel turn in being the "Who hit austin culprit". His reasons could be on the grounds of seeing guys like austin, hhh, rock and others that he preceded and competed with getting there shot. What about Owen? "I tried to be a nice guy and I got nowhere, so I hit austin with my car"...its too bad |

With how the business went and the work rate guys all got the world title - Angle, Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Misterio, etc - I fail to see how Owen Hart could wrestle these men (as well as Austin, Rock and HHH) and have bad matches. He would have been world champion even if it was a short run but he would have got it.

Why do people do this? Seriously. Owen Hart was not long from retirment. He didn't live his life for the business, he lived it for his family. He had saved up a lot of money, and it was kind of well know he wasn't going to resign when his contract ran up. Personally I don't think he ever would have been World Champion, but that's another issue, here is my issue with this...
Why do you have to think about what could have been? Seriously. Owen Hart had one of the best careers of anyone in the biz. He might never have won the "big one" but he certainly had more accomplishments than those who DO win it. His matches were great, and he was a class act. He tragically died too young. Why can't you leave it at that? Why does every wrestling fan do this. Why must you try and think of how much better his career could have been? Wasn't it enough? Would a World Title reign even make his career that much better? Do you think Owen is sitting up in Heaven wishing he had a reign? Do you think he cares? I don't know why, but for some reason sitting around debating what he may or may not have done gets me upset. It's like what WAS done wasn't enough for a lot of you...and I am sorry, but I am sick and tired of people (I am not saying any of you in particular) who wern't even fans of wrestling when Owen WAS alive, they always seem to be the ones leading the pack on the "I know for the fact Owen would have won the World Title, was going to get 'The Game' gimmick, would have blah blah blah..." |

Again, I refuse to believe Owen Hart would have anything other than great matches with Kurt Angle, The Rock, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Rey Misterio, Rob Van Dam, Triple-H, Edge and a peak Steve Austin. They all got world title runs.

He'd probably be in TNA right now. Jarrett would've convinced him to jump over there, and I definitely think Owen would've had at least one World Title reign at WWE
