Oilers and Thrashers - Wow!

Normally, those two teams wouldn't lead me to run home and turn on the TV to watch but I was glad that I at least caught the end of this game.

The Oilers were up 4-1 when the two teams decided to go for a little dance in the centre of the ice. Laraque was out there, so was Cowan. All ten players on the ice began to square off - then the goalies decided to join in Conklin and Nurminen going at it...classic old style hockey.

And the best part was when Aubin (Atlanta) tossed Bishai (Edmonton) into the Atlanta bench. Bishai gets up and starts beating on Aubin with all the Thrasher players standing and not getting involved (something about instant suspension or something). So there's an Oiler, beating on a Thrasher, while he's standing in the Thrasher bench.

Okay, gets better. They sort out the penalties and each player gets booted for the remaining two minutes of the game, which means Salo and the Atlanta goalie would have to suit up and play. Problem was Dafoe was already in the game and had to leave with a groin injury so the last two minutes of the game tonight were played with Atlanta having an empty net. And then Atlanta gets a penalty! Final score, Oilers 5 - Thrashers 1.

Classic matchup...
