Manchest United, WTF
So because the US plays against the Netherlands, i thought i should pick up on a little soccer, so i was checking my sportchannel and WTF Manchester lost against M'brough and here i was thinking Manchester was king of soccer I ain't a soccer expert but is this how Manchester plays lately or was it just this one time because i just picked up on soccer again and i always liked Manchester and who better to ask then my English Friends of TPWW.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I really hate the way Americans talk about Football
Anyway, the dealy is, United have been blowing hot and cold of late. The last 3 games they've been lucky to win, they beat Southampton thanks to some rule that no-one had ever heard of (the old rule was, if your in an offside position when the ball is played in, your offside, the new rule being you have to be "active" its hard to explain) They were fantastic in the first half against Everton, and then went to sh>it and Everton drew level to 3-3, then United scored in the last minute. Last night, they went 2-0 down, pulled it back to 2-2 (prompting some fu>cking annoying commentary from ITV) and then Boro won it. Having seen the highlights, I would say it was fairly even, but Man U were the better side in the second half. Anyway, basically, United have been playing badly since Ferdinand got his ban, they've had trouble defending, and they are playing Quinton Fortune as a left back, in a truly ridiculous move. Going forward, they are as strong as ever, with Ronaldo starting to realise that you have to cross the ball early, rather than use a million step overs to try and get into position, filling in, not too badly for Beckham. United would be better with Beckham though. United may be the most well known club in the world, but they aren't the best club in England, Arsenal are. |

I think we're f>ucked for this season now. 5 losses this far isn't good and our defense isn't showing any signs of improving. I'm just hoping it means fergie gets deep pockets for a new defense at the end of the season and we can try to mount a serious european campaign.

Yeah, Aresenal is the best in England right now. Manchester is not doing bad at all as I think they are in 2nd in the premier league. Chelsea and Liverpool are also close contenders. Ronaldo is going to be great some day IMO. Right now he just has to learn to pass more and play as a unit, not as an individual. I saw him play a couple of times, cause I follow the Portuguese League and my friends get the Portugese games, and he was awesome. And yes, Ferdinand is very missed by Manchester right now.
But I can't wait for the Champions League when Manchester plays Porto. Porto is the best team in the Potugese League right now and it should be an awesome match. |

Chelsea is still hands down the best team in the World, right behind D.C. United.

BTW Sid I think Supreme just meant it might've been better if you'd said *most* Americans, instead of grouping them all together into one unknowledagable whole

Ok, yeah, your right, and I apologise, but as I've said, any American I've ever spoken to appears to be fairly unknowledgable, and then attempt to pass themselves off as knowledgable, which is annoying

I do, but to be fair, very rarely do I go into matches expecting to win, because we can blow just about any game really. It's always hit and miss and we seem to lose to poor teams a hell of a lot, or underperform. Maybe it's just me but sometimes when we're losing it frustrates me how effort we put into coming back (although we aren't too bad lately, admittedly. )
We can probably pull something out but I think this season is going to Arsenal unless Henry gets cropped sometime soon or half of their team get sent off. I might be wrong, and I hope I am, but we have a pretty dire defense, and our midfield isn't as creative without beckham, and scholes is probably going to be out for a few matches for punching that guy I'm just glad we have Tim Howard, cause with that clown barthez in net we'd be fubar right now. |

Oh and another thing, last year, or the year before maybe, Man Utd bought a player from the Bristol City academy, and part of the deal is that they would have to play us in a friendly sometime.
Man Utd pulled out and eventually only agreed to an under-21 match. This proves that Manchester United are scared of Bristol City. |

I think he's been awesome for a while, utd had been scouting him for a year and a bit I think, it's just that the jump from american soccer to european is a big one and no-one was sure if he was just a big fish in a small pond type thing. I think he was going to be uniteds reserve keeper for a while, but his debut and other matches in the US were outstanding, so fergie kept him in the squad. Which is a great thing because Fabien Barthez was utter shit. |

Looks like Howard's the #1 now though, deservedly so after a few of his saves recently, even though he's been conceding quite a few. |
