Official SS match announcements thread
From WWE.com
![]() At Survivor Series, WWE fans will see a reunion, an extreme first and an inter-brand showdown all in the same match when a team co-captained by D-Generation X meets a team co-captained by Edge & Randy Orton in a 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match. The two teams of co-captains have been at each other’s throats for weeks, with Edge & Orton trying to end DX’s reign of terror on RAW. They were successful at Cyber Sunday thanks to special referee Eric Bischoff, but Shawn Michaels & Triple H responded by costing them the World Tag Team Championship the next night on RAW. Now, at Survivor Series, the two teams will add three partners and do battle in a Classic Survivor Series Match. Both quintets will be made up of Superstars from all three brands. Along with HBK and The Game, Team DX will be made up of RAW’s Jeff Hardy, SmackDown’s Matt Hardy and ECW Extremist CM Punk; meanwhile, Edge & Orton’s squad will be rounded out by Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro, Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms and ECW’s Mike Knox. Jeff and Nitro, Matt and Helms and Punk and Knox all have their own rivalries brewing as well. Jeff and Nitro have traded the Intercontinental Championship in recent months, Matt and Helms have been battling over a personal grudge and Punk and Knox have been at odds seemingly due to the schoolgirl crush Knox’s girlfriend Kelly has on Punk. All four of these rivalries will be combined into one volatile match at Survivor Series; but while hostility is high, this match will also see the ultimate reunion of the brothers Hardy. Together, Matt and Jeff have won the World Tag Team Championship on five occasions, but Survivor Series will see them teaming together for the first time since August 2002. Who will survive when these 10 Superstars and Extremists collide in the same ring at Survivor Series? Check back tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET for the announcement of another Survivor Series match. Wow, that was unexpected. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Funky Fly; 11-08-2006 at 08:12 PM. Reason: Destor's request. |

I like it. This is how it was back in the day. This is what I was hoping for. They need to make at least 2 more of these matches and the rest whatever else.

I really like this match. Matt Hardy actually gets to be in a high profile match, along with Gregory Helms, and it's CM Punk's WWE ppv debut. Plus, I like how everyone has issues with someone on the other team. Very cool.

I am really happy about this announcement. Weird though seeing as Triple H didn't "see anything" in CM Punk. Great that they are putting lower card workers who can really work in a high scale match.

If it makes you feel any better I don't see anything in CM Punk either. But funny how HHH says that about a lot of guys.

However, I think any of a dozen or more guys could do the same if they were being groomed by WWE, so he's really nothing special. I like the match, but I expected more high profile folks for some reason. This feels more like a main event match as a vehicle to a PPV than it does a PPV match. |

I really like this match. If it were the main event that'd be even better, but I have a feeling it won't be. We all know it's going to boil down to DX vs. Edge/Orton though, which kind of hurts it, but just seeing the Hardys back together is going to be worth it. |

Just thought of something... They teamed Jeff Hardy (known for his drug addictions and whatnot) with CM Punk, whos gimmick is the Straight Edged Life. Kinda funny if you think about it I suppose.

I'm loving the Survivor Series card thus far:
-King Booker vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship -Team DX vs. Team Rated RKO -Mr. Kennedy vs. The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match -Team Cena vs. Team Big Show -Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero for the WWE United States Championship I see Cryme Tyme on a team opposite Shelton Benjamin. The Boogeyman and The Miz will be on opposing teams. Charlie Haas and Viscera could join Shelton Benjamin in his battle against Cryme Tyme, and Carlito makes another logical babyface member of Cryme Tyme's unit. I see The Sandman and Matt Striker being put on opposite teams, just because. So yeah, another match prediction: -Shad Gaspard, JTG, Carlito, The Boogeyman and The Sandman vs. Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Viscera, Mike Mizanin and Matt Striker The Spirit Squad would likely form a team against Ric Flair and Rowdy Roddy Piper. I'd like to see some kind of "Tag Team Champion" team, though, so add Paul London and Brian Kendrick to the match. Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a WWE Legend, and he has problems with The Spirit Squad, so I can see him being thrown in there as well: -Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. The Spirit Squad The card is getting pretty stacked now, but I can also see a Fatal Fourway Match for the Women's Championship taking place. Lita vs. Victoria vs. Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix. This will just space the classic Survivor Series Elimination Matches out. So yeah, my prediction for the final card: -King Booker vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship -John Cena, Kane, Bobby Lashley, Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Big Show, Umaga, Montel Vontavious Porter, Finlay & Test -Mr. Kennedy vs. The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match -Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy & CM Punk vs. Randy Orton, Edge, Johnny Nitro, Gregory Helms & Mike Knox -Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero for the WWE United States Championship -Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. The Spirit Squad -Lita vs. Victoria vs. Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix for the WWE Women's Championship -Shad Gaspard, JTG, Carlito, The Boogeyman & The Sandman vs. Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Viscera, Mike Mizanin & Matt Striker The Sandman would go early in his match, getting disqualified for going ape-shit with a kendo stick. This leads to the easy eliminations of Matt Striker by JTG, and Viscera by Shad Gaspard. Mike Mizanin takes the Boogeyslam, and Charlie Haas gets dropped by the Boogeybomb. Shelton Benjamin is left alone with four members of the opposing team. He gets scared off by The Boogeyman and Cryme Tyme, and stumbles into the Backcracker. Cryme Tyme, Carlito and The Boogeyman survive. Victoria becomes a three-time Women's Champion by winning the Fatal Fourway with a Widow's Peak. Mickie James and Beth Phoenix are none too happy. The Spirit Squad manage to isolate Brian Kendrick, but he tags in Hacksaw Jim Duggan, who eliminates Mitch with the 3 Point Stance. Some heel trickey allows Mikey to pin Hacksaw. Johnny then pins Piper after some more heel tactics. Paul London & Brian Kendrick hit the Get Well Soon on Nicky, and he goes packing. A Sweet Chin Symphony is played on Johnny, and he's out. Kenny is rolled up by Ric Flair in a surprise elimination. Mikey gets put in the Figure Four, Brian Kendrick gets down on hands and knees, and London leaps off Kendrick's back with the London Star Press on Mikey. Flair's Figure Four gets the pin. Ric Flair, Paul London & Brian Kendrick survive. Chavo Guerrero rolls up Chris Benoit, using the ropes and the tights to secure a pinfall, to become the new WWE United States Champion. I see Edge and Shawn Michaels brawling through the crowd, causing both to get counted out early in their match. Mike Knox doesn't need too much protecting, so I can see him being eliminated by CM Punk next. Knox then grabs the arm of Punk, which distracts Punk long enough for Johnny Nitro to roll him up for the pin. The Hardy Boyz hit Falling Fate on Johnny Nitro, which eliminates the Intercontinental Champion. Gregory Helms takes the Twist of Fate, and is about to eat a Swanton Bomb, when Nitro crotches Jeff Hardy, which distracts Matt. Helms rolls up Hardy with his feet on the ropes to eliminate him. Helms goes up top, and looks to take out Jeff with a superplex, but Matt pulls Helms off, hits the Twist of Fate, and Jeff follows up with the Swanton Bomb, to eliminate the Cruiserweight Champion. Randy Orton uses the Intercontinental Championship belt behind the ref's back, as he gets Matt out of the ring, and pins Jeff Hardy. The match is down to Triple H and Randy Orton. It looks to be going in Triple H's favour, but Eric Bischoff gets involved, and Edge returns to Spear Triple H. Orton connects with the RKO. Team Rated RKO wins with Randy Orton surviving. Mr. Kennedy wins the Buried Alive Match with help from The Great Khali and Daivari. This match is really short, and just used to get heat for Kennedy, and give Khali, Daivari and ECW more exposure. Team Cena vs. Team Big Show is the hardest match to book, in my opinion. I see Big Show going early on, which would be a nice surprise. Umaga will probably win it for his team with help from Kevin Federline. Unfortunately, I see Kane going first, when he gets MVP up for a Chokeslam, but Finlay clips his knee, allowing MVP to steal the pin. I see Kane taking out his frustrations out on MVP, which allows Rob Van Dam to follow up with a Five Star Frog Splash, eliminating the lost Power Ranger. Big Show then eats a Spear from Bobby Lashley, a Triple Jump Moonsault from Sabu (maybe with John Cena or Bobby Lashley acting as the chair), a Five Star Frog Splash from RVD, and then gets slapped in the STFU by John Cena. The ECW World Champion is forced to tap out. Finlay shoves RVD off the top rope, when he is about to pin Umaga, and the Samoan Bulldozer follows up with the Samoan Spike on RVD to send him packing. Big Show puts Sabu in the Big Sleep, and then nails him with the Showstopper. Finlay follows with the Celtic Cross, and that is all for Sabu. John Cena is isolated by Finlay and Umaga, and he eventually fights to his corner, but Bobby Lashley jumps down. Cena is confused, and turns into the avalanche by Umaga. He then gets a Samoan Senton, followed by the Spike for a two count. Lashley looks a little disturbed by this, but nonetheless, he gets back in the ring, and plants Cena with a Running Powerslam, which allows Umaga to get a Splash off the top rope for the pin. Umaga and Finlay survive. Unfortunately, I see Batista ending the World Heavyweight Championship reign of King Booker. I hope that isn't the case. Few other good matches would be ...
Undertaker and Kane along with Sabu, London and Kendrick vs Kennedy and Umaga along with Thorn, Stevens and Burke also RVD and Sandman along with Crazy, and Cryme Tyme vs Big Show and Test along with Masters, and Cade/Murdoch ALSO Batista and Benoit along with Carlito, and Flair/Piper Booker and Chavo along with Benjamin, and The Spirit Squad ya know something along those lines the whole show should be just these matches, except one championship match |

You get DX, you get CM punk but you also get Hardy Boys to reteam together for the first time in year. The big thing is will they all come out to their own music, or do you have those 3 join up as a DX reunion for the night.
Oh, I just got an idea. Maybe because Bischoff has been so involved lately, you have him define Team Orton/Edge as Team NWO for the night. Then you've got DX vs NWO |

Wow, I have been a fan of pro wrestling a long long time, and I thought I had seen everything, and yet never once in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would see Triple H, Shawn Michaels, a reunited Hardy Boyz and CM Freakin Punk be in one match...never mind teaming up against 5 men who actually have a purpose in being in the match. It's almost like...WWE...somehow...used logic. I tell you, this is a very weird day indeed.

It would be awesome if the WWE made either Orton, HHH, HBK, or Edge get eliminated before all the other guys do. It can end up as HHH and Edge at the end, I don't care, I just want to see some unpredictibility.

Happy as long as it doesnt turn into DX against the world and results in burying on both sides for a DX vs Edge/Orton Rematch. I'd like maybe HHH and Edge to make it to the final four, with unexpecteds. Say...HHH and Punk (haha) vs Edge and Nitro.
I think you could subtlely give Punk a decent rub from being crowd favored along with HHH on a big time WWE ppv, as much as I hate to feed HHHs ego with such a claim I think its true. Edge is the better of the 2 leaders of that team to go to the end, and I think it would be right to have Nitro and Helms stick around. Leaving HHH and Punk with 3 on 2 odds, overcoming the odds. I'd have Knox come back out and take Punk out of it to fuel that fued to a conclusion match. And then I'd have Edge go over HHH by cheating, but nonetheless winning. |
