I was bored, so I came up with these. I did a similar thing before the season, but I think this one is better. There are a couple that could go either way, like Tennessee being in the top group or Florida State being in the second group, but it is all relative. Tell me which ones you think should change.
National Power: Not neccessarily always amazing, but on any given year one of these teams could be the national champion and it wouldn't be a big shock. ---------- Auburn Florida Florida State LSU Miami Michigan Ohio State Oklahoma Texas USC Second Tier: These are teams that you will find in bowls like the Capitol One, Cotton, Peach, etc. They are always good teams, almost always have more than 6 wins, but it would have to be an uncharacteristically good year for them to be BCS Champions. ---------- Alabama Arkansas California Iowa Georgia Louisville Nebraska Oregon Penn State Tennessee Texas A&M Virginia Tech Wake Forest West Virginia Wisconsin Bowl Teams: Generally, you will find these teams in bowl games. Generally, they will be 6-8 win teams. On a rare year, you might find them in an upper tier or BCS Bowl, and you might find them missing bowls too. ---------- Arizona State Boston College Clemson Colorado Georgia Tech Kansas State Maryland Michigan State Minnesota Missouri Oklahoma State Oregon State Pittsburgh Purdue Rutgers South Carolina South Florida Texas Tech UCLA Just Under: These are teams that can very well make a bowl game and it wouldn't be too surprising, but for one of these teams to be a 7 or 8 win team anytime soon would be kind of a big deal. Generally speaking, these are teams that will struggle to consistantly win six games. ---------- Arizona Cincinnati Iowa State Kansas Kentucky North Carolina NC State Northwestern Ole Miss Virginia Washington Washington State Piss Poor: If one of these teams makes a bowl game, or even wins as many as four games, it is big news. ---------- Baylor Connecticut Duke Illinois Indiana Mississippi State Stanford Syracuse Vanderbilt Dont Mess With Kids Last edited by BCWWF; 12-02-2006 at 10:20 PM. |

WHOA WHOA WHOA....
You are missing Notre Dame from the national power teams. Say what you will... any team that has it's own national TV deal and has the nickname of "University of Football"... needs to be recognized. |

Shit, forgot Notre Dame because they weren't in the BCS conference standings that I was looking at when making this list. In all honesty though, I think they belong in the second group.
As for Rutgers, and the same thing with Wake Forest, after the year's they have had, I can't imagine them falling off too hard. I know Wake has a good recruiting class coming in, not sure about Rutgers, but I would have to imagine. There is probably a good argument that both programs would fit under the third category though. |

Wait Rutgers already is in the third Tier, I think that's legit.

Remember earlier in the year I ranked the conferences and Stima got all upset because I said the Pac-10 was almost as good as the ACC? Well fuck it, now I will rank the conferences how they ended up.
Southeastern Conference Big 12 Big Ten Atlantic Coast Conference Big East Pac-10 I rank the Big 12 higher than the Big Ten because after Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin, the Big Ten is incredibly average. In the Big 12, there are 9 out of 12 teams that are going to bowls this year. That is one hell of a feat. So they weren't neccessarily top heavy, but by far the deepest conference. |

The ACC was awful this year though, like probably the worst year for the ACC that it has ever had. Miami 6-6? FSU 6-6? Wake Forest vs Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship game?

Is it just possible that all the other teams in the ACC just got better?

Virginia Tech should be in the top tier teams. They've won at least 10 games 6 of the last 8 years. I also would say Tennessee deserves to be in the top tier as much as Florida and LSU.

The thing about the ACC this year, Miami and FSU had bad years, but that doesn't mean that the whole conference is bad. I would just say that this year, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, as well as teams like BC stepped up and were the better teams. There were I think five ranked teams at the end of the year, which I think says a lot, especially isnce Florida State and Miami were not among them.
