That's interesting, my bread has the same qualities as the Daily Show.

Savior and AssMan, out of interest, do you keep up with politics in general? Like do you read the newspaper everyday?
This is just an honest question out of interest, BTW |

Would it make you feel any better to know that someone who follows current events finds much of the Daily Show's content to be sliding downhill, that it's not indicative of the political nature of the humour, but that many of the bits are similar to those they did 5 or ten (F&$%ing) years ago?
John's settled into a routine of late, and it really hurts the show a lot of the time. Though everyone else complaining might not feel the show has gone downhill so much as blows. However, it's definitely stale. |

I've been saying as much for ages now.
Like say if George Bush has slightly stuttered a word in some press conference or something, they'll roll the footagem then there'll be a shot of Stewart making some stupid face and talking in an loud voice with an excentuated accent, the crowd will go balistic, and then for 10 minutes they'll talk about the 'irony' of having a president who stutters the word 'anti-disestablishmentarianism' or something. Seriously I'm all for Bush humour, but only if its funny ![]() |

The only funny thing about that bit is the rare occasion when Bush talks and sounds JUST. LIKE. STEWART.
But it's one of his greatest hits. You don't see U2 without Sunday, Bloody Sunday, you don't see Springsteen without Born To Run, and you don't see Stewart without this tripe. ![]() |

How much control does he have as far as the content of the show goes?

But honestly though I still enjoy the Daily Show, but it is repetitive. I was asking if they were interested in current affairs etc. because I know a lot of people who don't get the show, but that's because they don't read the newspaper and are stupid.
I think the stuff that he does in the first 10 minutes or so is repetitive every night, but it's probably just a dumbing down of the show for the great unwashed who can only really relate to "BUSH SUCKZORZ!!!11 LOLZ". I enjoy his interviews and I think if they ran for even longer they would be fascinating. He hits the balance perfectly with humor and fact. But I must admit he has some pretty awesome guests on who have something to say, and when he interrupts with some joke about Bush, it pisses me off as I really want to listen to the guest. Colbert has just got old very very fast. That show can't last much longer. |

It's kind of different when it's Stewart repeating a joke. Probably one of the reasons American comedy pisses me off, they just use the same joke over and over until every last laugh has been squeezed out of it. Probably one of the problems with being on TV every night, though, no British comedian has to deal with that kind of pressure. |

Americans are brilliant at sitcoms and things like that, 'light' humour definitely, also black comedy in things like the Sopranos, and slightly more intelligent in things like the West Wing. Buuuuut, Brits definitely do political satire better.

Even comedians have routines.
Anyway, they said it was stale, which would indicate that it wasn't so previously. you don't start stale. Also, ct2y2kyjelly, I think he has a pretty strong hand in it. |

Eh, it can get repetitive, but at the same time they will make some interesting insights on a pretty regular basis imo.

I haven't watched it in a while but I caught like a minute of that woman's segment on last night's show actually and it was horribly unfunny. She is real annoying. I think it is just impossible for me to find women funny though.
