How would you book RVD...
...upon arrival in TNA. Under the assumption that he heads to TNA at some point in the next year, how would you book his arrival, debut, and his first few months and where he goes in TNA? Since we don't know when he'd get there, if he does, take some liberties as to whats going on in TNA at the time of his arrival...

Personally, I'd have him come in as a suprise and make a big splash (no pun intended) and go right for the NWA title, maybe in a fued with Kurt Angle or Joe and then after a decent run (couple months) have him get cost the belt and take a break from the title picture and work a lot in the Xdivision, put over some of those guys and give that belt some serious credibility before getting him back in the hunt for world gold...

How about you guys?

It's pretty much a guarantee that he'll shoot on the WWE. That seems to be a requirement for all ex-WWE guys.

I'm sick of seeing WWE guys debut in TNA as the "top face of the week." First it was Rhino, then Christian, then Angle. I want to see RVD show up and just totally rip the company apart, saying that he came to TNA to show the idiots in Orlando and the fans all over the world that TNA is RVD country.

I'd give him a mouth piece like Paul Heyman or even good old Fonzie (someone to hold the chair for his big spots like the Van Daminator and Van Terminator, both of which will become staples in his repetoire again) and let him build some momentum in TNA, feuding with and defeating guys like Rhino, Christopher Daniels, and Sting before moving up to a main event feud with Kurt Angle or Samoa Joe.

Or maybe introduce with him the TV Title and give him a long, undefeated streak with it, giving him back his cocky, better than you, Whole Fuckin' Show reputation.

What I would do for RVD is make him RVD again.

Actually, I'd like to see RVD come into the main event, only to be denied. He could basically be pissed off that he's being short changed by the powers that be within TNA. Then he can be totally pissed off by this, and work a program without necessarily being in the ME scene.

I start him off with AJ Styles instead of catapulting him into the main event. Base the fued over who is the most exciting wrestler in the world or something.

I'd also have him fued with Sabin and Daniels and the like before he moved on to the main event guys.

Actually, RVD debuting and being dubbed the first TNA television champion would be a good way to introduce a secondary championship that I think would benefit TNA.

Before RVD shows up on TV, have whoever is the GM/man in charge go round saying that it's great that he's signed but he is no Angle, and he's not getting an easy ride to the top of TNA like others that have crossed over have. Push this to the limit, have Christian (if he is champ) say that he doesn't deserve to be and that he is not champion material anymore.

Have RVD arrive, do his shoot and say that his talents will get him to the top, not his name. Have the heel AJ Styles come out and say that talent gets you nowhere, but politics does and he hasn't done enough sucking up yet. But he's sure it's only a matter of time. Have them feud for a while, then a RVD/Rhino feud would be nice.

Have about a year, even have him win the X-Division title if you want, then get him into the ME picture. TNA needs ME's all down the card at the moment, RVD is perfect to fit that role.

I'd have Rob Van Dam feud with Jerry Lynn for a bit. Have him refuse to go after the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Have him even talk down to the NWA Champion (Kurt Angle?), and talk about how the belt is too old-school to mean anything today, and he'd rather hold a younger Championship like the TNA X-Division Championship. RVD eventually wins the belt, and have him and Kurt Angle get into a bit of a "cold war" over whose Championship means more.

Eventually Angle manages to coerce the "old-school" Jim Cornette into forcing RVD into a Title vs. Title Match, where the winner will be both the NWA and X-Division Champion. RVD wins the match, becomes NWA World Heavyweight Champion, then throws down the belt, and says he'd much rather be the first TNA World Heavyweight Champion than the latest NWA Champion.

Shane Douglas can then lead a young star to feuding with RVD over the TNA World Title, while a tournament is held for the NWA Title. RVD can deflect Douglas' guy, and can then lose the TNA X-Division Title to an up-and-comer, who then sets their sights on RVD's World Championship.

I was diggin that until you brought in Shane Douglas. I know you were using him because the above scenario was similar to what he did, but I don't think he'd need to be involved. The homage is enough.

Good stuff tho, I like the idea of a "cold war" between champions since they're seperate divisions and not primary and secondary. Could be really cool. I also like the concept of ditching the NWA belt and going with a TNA belt, because thats something I believe needs to be done.

Yeah, I'm really not that into Shane Douglas at the moment, either, but I just included it because a lot of people would feel it is "too similar" to the original incident and TNA would be trying to capture lightning in a bottle for a second time. I would not mind if Douglas didn't get involved, or if he did, only challenged RVD to a match for the Title on an edition of Impact!, as kind of a one-off challenger.

I'd have him start going for X title first and make it worth something, have him be the mystery opponent for whoever the X division champ is (JERRY LYNN PLEASE!!!) and they could have a two month feud. Wrestling at least once on impact. Then for the next year keep the title (go for the longest run). He'd put guys over but keep the title and make it worth something. He'd face the entire division and win, then have some guy (Jerry Lynn again or some entering wrestler, JERICHO!!!) come in and beat him for it, but RVD's cool with that he has his eyes on a bigger prize turns heel somehow, and goes for the TNA title. He goes after Christian first for a number one contender's match then, Joe interfere's causing RVD to lose so he faces Joe then he faces the current champ (sting probably) but comes up short. He fights Jeff Jarret and then goes for the title again and cheats to win. He then goes for a program with Angle. He retains the title and fights just about everyone in the main event to show off his skills, then he loses somehow, and says he doesn't know what to do without a title in TNA, he goes face eventually and teams with Jerry Lynn (or even AJ Styles) or someone and gets the tag titles the very next show. He keeps those for a while and if he's with JL start a stable known as the EXTREME stable. IF with AJ lose the titles and Start an extreme stable much later. Raven, Jerry Lynn, Rhyno, Dudleys, and RVD could be a great stable.

I would have him cut a promo on how Vince Mcmahon has turned ECW into a joke, aswell as RVD, and that now he's in TNA he'll show Vince what he's lost, the REAL RVD. Then have AJ come out and say how he's sick of wrestlers who used to work for Vince coming to TNA and complaining and that he's going to put a stop to it by making an example out of RVD, RVD then challenges AJ and they feud over the next couple of months, RVD loses the first PPV match but wins the second which has a NWA title shot on the line against Kurt Angle.

This turns into a triple threat match between RVD/Christian/Angle,..AJ stops RVD from winning the match and Angle retains. RVD then goes on to feud with both AJ/Christian with Angle helping RVD out, the feuds then turn into Angle V AJ and Christian/RVD.

I would also have Angle/RVD win the tag titles at some point during that.

That's the best I could come up with.

I don't usually like to see guys go back to old gimmicks/rehash angles because it is never as good the second time around, but I'd take a risk and go back to his "Mr. Monday Night" persona, have him talk about how he is slumming it in TNA and is a WWE-calibre performer, that he's the big fish in the small pond etc. Of course, he would have to be a heel, else TNA just admitted they're the second-rate company on air.
