Lance Storm Boycotting TNA

http://www.stormwrestling.com/020207.html

Apparently Russo has been really fucking the show up with storylines and the last show he watches (yesterday) has made him decide to boycott the show till russo is removed from the creative team. From the sounds of things, it's starting to sound alot like WCW. Full article above.

Bashed CZW
Thinks of Lex Luger's pay when he needs to "be serious"
Hates TNA's booking

Yeah, Lance just keeps on becoming more and more "The Man".

WWE has been better then TNA in the recent weeks.

I myself would rather watch Raw then Impact, and I have always been a big TNA fan and thats sad.

Well reading Storms columns have become part of my regular internet routine now when I'm bored, and from the sounds of it he doesn't watch ECW at all, go back and forth on feelings for RAW, and has Smackdown as his favorite wrestling show out of all of them.

I honestly haven't watched a full Smackdown though since 2003 (around the time that JBL won the WWE Championship from Eddie Gurrerro), but finally caught a full show this week and can see why he likes it. I forgot that wrestling can look more like a sport than a soap opera.

Yea, the one blemish on a good match. The setup actually made me care about the US Championship...presenting it, looking like there were going to really fight for it. It's something I haven't really seen in wrestling in a long time.

Though yes, Boogyman and LB being involved did take away some charm, but still enjoyed it more than a Raw match.

Well, with numbers like those...

Now, if Icould be serious for a moment...

I don't know. I didn't see Smackdown, but when I looked at the captions, I saw what looked like a lot of "soap opera" and "filler."

Well I was compairing it to the only other thing I've seen recently, which is Raw. I'm at the point with Raw that it feel so much like a soap opera that there matches now seem pointless, and even further, there titles are nothing. Hell, the IC Champ got jobbed out last week for a 7 foot man who knows less than Hulk Hogan in the ring.

Then I catch Smackdown and start with a US Title Match. The announcers build the title up...they build the wrestlers up...and the presentation by both the ring announcer and the ref made it feel like a real title match. Also didn't hurt that Benoit and Finley were the wrestlers.

But yes, Boogyman was a blemish on the match, and the show did have other long segments for wrestlers, but segments that acctually helped build up feuds and matches. I'm not saying that the show was the "ideal" wrestling show, but came off as one of the better wrestling shows I've seen in awhile.

You do realise that some of the best points of the Attitude Era were total soap opera moments, right? That the soap opera elements are what push the matches and book the fueds? That you are essentially excusing behaviour on one show while chastising it on another?

Wow...for a second I thought you guys were totally defending the pure wrestling thing most IWC people defend. However, yes, I realize the soap opera element is a big part of wrestling...a matter of fact it's why I watch wrestling and not most other sports.

Still, the wrestling product is an interesting one and needs a balance of realism to those sports fan and soap opera element for those looking for story. Sort of like eating...eat too much and you get fat, eat too little and you'll be malnourished. With wrestling, too much sopa opera kills the realistic elements in wrestling, and pure wrestling kills the damatic interest that comes with pro wrestling. My main issue is that most wrestling shows I've seen in the past few years is so soap opera like that the element of it being a sport and caring about that sport element (like titles, wrestling ability, and matches) are lost. It's been bothering me than I just can't seem to care about the WWE Championship anymore and it is the biggest goal in wrestling. Same with the IC Championship if Jeff Hardy is going to be jobbing to people.

So what I'm doing isn't critising one show and praising the same thing on another. My thing is that Smackdown imo actually has a better mixtures of those elements from the show I saw. To correct something I said earlier, I'm not really happy with the sport element the show was given, but that it actually made me care about a match as well as make me care about the title placed on the line like it was important. Something I haven't felt from Raw, ECW, and certainly TNA after the whole Abyss thing.

Much better, though if Smackdown's doing 3 matches in two hours, I disagree. Raw's been doing a nice mix of sports and entertainment, it's just the entertainment sucks. They have some brilliant workers. I mean, Michaels, even when he's Christian and rehasheDX is worth like 50 wrestlers. Even with K-Fed and Umaga and Cena on the roster, they're putting on solid matches every week, and in more of a sports quantity.

Smackdown was feeling to me like a comic book meets a soap opera, with very little substance. I mean, I love a lot of their midcard, but fuck. They were barely used. Even with Benoit Finlay, that's one match, and it requires you to endure two of the shittiest, campiest elements. That's not a good blend.

I'm not sure why the WHC is better than the WWE title, given that it's being defended by Batista, who seems to halfass every match. Who gives a shit? Rey Msyterio held onto it for a while. The guy was booked as a loser who didn't deserve it in the first place. Sure, the US title has two guys who can go, but the WHC is automatically short one guy for the above reason. Dancing Dave is awful. He's phoning it in. Unless he's gone up like 2010% in the last month or two...

Though at least you're now apparently less impressed by Smackdown and more like one match.

I'm in the same boat. Regardless of how bad Raw is, I still find it way better than Smackdown. I enjoy watching it way more, in fact I usually do watch it.
Besides the live and A-show aspects, I find it clearly better.
They still put on better matches, they have womens division instead of women's segments. And Raw's women are far hotter which is what its all about.

I'm going to have to say, as a champion, I prefer Cena more than Batista. Sure they both suck, but at least Cena cares a little bit and is showcased as so. Plus it's not a looming threat that hes going to have to forfeit the belt. Even though I kinda liked King Booker (just because it was Booker T), was this serious? The main event of Smackdown is so inferior its insulting.
Yea, Benoit has the US title...so, he's a World Champion. And who's he fueding with, Chavo over Eddie's name in match after match?

I'd rather watch Jeff Hardy as a fighting midcard champion. At least his fued with Nitro is about the matches and not a corpse. I'm diggin Jeff as IC champ right now anyways, hes doing great week in week out and I care about my favorite belt for the first time in a couple years.

Whats the deal with the rest of Smackdown's roster? Well besides being the dull snoozefest that is Friday Night Smackdown, its a saturday morning cartoon. Little Bastard, Boogeyman, Duece and Domino...It's full of shit.

L&K are a great team in ring, but they lack that something like the Hardys once did. They need an overhaul, and some compettitors. How long have they had those belts? 9 months? and what have they done for them?
At least Rated RKO and Cena/HBK are noticed as tag champs.

The cruiserweight division. Here's another defunct belt/division hanging around on the friday night cartoon. Helm's has had it for forever and hasn't had any challengers. The women's division has more action, credibility and dynamic than this. They have matches every week, continuing fueds and multiple solid workers. This is more than the cruiserweight division can say.

for the record, the cruiserweight title is now in the place that the lightheavyweight title was. A belt with a champion, but no division. How does a man holding a championship belt not even secure a place on programming? Probably because nobody gives a fuck and they're not making any steps to make this the case.

Naw. I'd still rather watch Smackdown. Raw's total ass, too.

It's just that I have an IQ above thirty and have opted not to watch either.

To be honest though has Vince Russo made TNA anymore unwatchable than it used to be?
