MSG Incident with HBK,HHH,SCOTT HALL, and NASH

I was far too young to remember this incident....was the whole "solidifying of their friendship over the company" incident at a house show or RAW? Also, why was all the heat on HHH and not HBK?

It was at a house show, and because HBK was the top guy at the time.

Basically they broke "kayfabe" and "solidified" their friendship, correct?
Does anyone know what was the storyline at the time?

While we're on the subject, does anyone know if that was a WWE-recorded tape that they always show, or a fan tape that they got?

I want to say a WWE tape because I'm pretty sure they tape all their house shows for review, but I'm not sure.

Also, considering I've never seen any other footage, I assume this show wasn't aired on the MSG network? (For those who don't know, they used to air some MSG shows on the MSG Network in the New York area.)

Well Kevin Nash and HBK just got done a Cage match I think. It was during the Diesel/HBK feud when HBK was the World Champ.

And yes they broke Kayfabe and joined hands and Bowed down to the Audience. This pissed serveral Agents at the time, and I forget the names of the agents it pissed off but they were pissed.

It's more then Likely a WWE taped footage, and I have no idea if it was ever shown again.

wow it definitely would have been shocking if i was there. with the way storylines and wrestling was at the time, seeing that would have been the same thing as seeing Undertaker out of character...

It's the type of thing that wasn't a big deal, but Vince made it into one. Probably more because they were going to the compettition rather than the breaking of kayfabe. But still, yea Vince was stuck in his ways on that matter, just like he still is with others.

This type of thing happens now, for instance the Ric Flair ceremony with all heels and faces and his opponent from the night smiling and drinking with him in ring.
Or at a house show when Waltman got in ring and celebrated with HHH and Shawn.

In many ways, it was a bold and classy move by HHH and HBK.
Vince just doesn't get some things. He didn't even get DX until those 2 convinced him it was the right move for business. Initially he fined them, and once the ratings came in, they went there.

I would say breaking Kayfabe was a huge part of it. Back then it wasn't the norm to break kayfabe, especially in their biggest non-televised event of the month. Now you have guys calling other guys by their real names and all that shit.

It wasn't as huge as Vince made it out to be, but breaking Kayfabe was a no-no back then.

The tape was a fan-made tape, confiscated by WWE because fans aren't allowed to video tape house shows (or any shows for that matter).

Also, the "storyline" was simply that they were all enemies. HBK got off because he was champion (or in the running for it) at the time, and Nash and Hall were leaving anyway. HHH was buried for a year or two. He was supposed to get a big push at the time, but it was delayed as a result.

I heard he was scheduled to win the King of the Ring, and we all know who took it that year (96). Imagine if he had gone on to win the King of the Ring.

There are so many things that fell perfectly into place for the attitude era it's ridiculous.
