I miss early WWE career Eddie Guerrero.

Latino Heat and the European Title. Great times. Feel free to use the rest of this thread to discuss any random thoughts you may have.

Yes, because the WWF product as a whole was hot at the time, and most of the card was entertaining. Notice how, despite his talent, nobody was really calling for Eddie to win the WWF title at that time? Because there was a roster full of guys who could potentially do that.

I sure miss that Kreski guy who was booking at the time. Imagine a booking team consisting of Kreski, Russo, Heyman and Cornette. Gold, surely.

Latino Heat was great stuff. He had some pretty good matches in his initial face run. Vs. Essa Rios @Backlash 2000 was very good for example.

I'll give Russo his due, FA. With Vince McMahon as his editor, his work was great. As bad as he is on his own, I'd still love to see him take over as WWE head writer even today.

For the love of God, no. They'd devour each other. That's like calling for a tuna fish and peanut butter sandwich on banana bread.

As saddened as I was by Eddie's death, I was almost even more disappointed in not being able to see the 'I'm your Papi!' tee-shirt anymore.

Quite enjoyed his last heel run actually.

I never really liked Eddie Guerrero at this time. I was new to wrestling, and he looked like a sleazeball. I understand he was meant to now, and he how well he played his character, but I never understood just why he got as over as he did.

I used to love the European Championship. I remember marking out like a bitch on the RAW (I think) after the 2001 Royal Rumble where Test squashed William Regal for the belt. I was a huge Test fan, and it was fun to hear Jerry Lawler surprised at how easily Regal got his ass kicked. Good times.

Then you had Matt Hardy win the belt from Eddie Guerrero in a surprise match. I believe Raven was scheduled to face Guerrero for the belt at Backlash, and not being too into the budding feud. Then Matt Hardy faced Eddie Guerrero and beat him for the Title. Glorious during the mark days. I can imagine a lot of smarks being pissed off at that one, though.

Remember when the WWE used to take chances and do crazy stuff? Jeff Hardy had a six-day IC Title reign after beating Triple H. I never really liked Jeff, but seeing Matt slam the steel chair into Triple H's back, and Jeff Hardy following it up with a well-placed Swanton Bomb. It was priceless. In today's WWE, it would have no chance of happening, but when it did, it just felt so right. It's incidents like these that make me dream of a day when Val Venis beats someone meaningful, or a Brian Kendrick beats a King Booker for the US Title. One can hold onto the past. One can dream.

My favourite wrestlers from the early 2001 period: Kane, Matt Hardy, Test and Billy Gunn. If the WWE had put those four into a Fatal Fourway Match at that time, I would have cummed my pants.

Remember the Right to Censor? That was an awesome heel stable. Steven Richards got to talk, and he did it well. Val Venis didn't get as much as a push under the stable as he was originally intended to, but he was an regular fixture of programming each week. I always had a soft spot for Bull Buchanan, and if the WWE re-hired him, I would not be opposed to Bull, Val and Richards forming another version of the RTC. The only think the RTC ever lacked was The Goodfather renaming the "Ho Train" to the "No Train". I loved the heel moment when he shoved down his hos after initially joining the RTC.
