What if Wrestlemania 13 went down like it was suppsoed too....
I was just thinking, what if WM13 went down like it was supposed to and Bret VS shawn happened....what would have become of Stone cold had he not had that legendary (my favorite) match with bret hart. Granted SCSA would probally have blown up regaurdless, but that was the match that really solidfied him in a lot of peoples eyes.
I think that then ending to that match, wouldnt have been so amazing and career changing if say it was some other wrestler in a generic submission move as opposed to Bret harts sharpshooter which is a WELL respected move to have austin not tap out on. What do you think? VROOM VROOM Quote:

I don't know what would have become of Austin if not for that match. That was the exact moment at which people REALLY turned their eyes on him and thought "wow, this guy has something." Would that same match have worked outside of the Wrestlemania environment? Maybe, maybe not, but it's all a big balancing act.

good question. 3 big playes; shawn, bret, austin. the screwjob might have been averted.Bret might have been the one to dropped the belt to austin at WM14.

If the screwjob was adverted (like someone suggested), we might actually still have Bret Hart wrestling in the WWE. Austin may have been given the big push, but I doubt he would have "boomed" per se. I think it is more likely he'd have been another Batista or John Cena, pushed hard by the WWE, and expected to draw. He'd get over, but he wouldn't make the bundle of money he did.
Ultimately, Bret Hart would probably remain the top star, and Austin would have taken a backseat. But I never watched wrestling then, so that is a pretty unqualified opinion. |

I think Austin would have been just as big. It may have taken more time though. We probably wouldn't have had the Mr Mchmohan Character.
Can you imagine a 3 way match for the title at WM14 ? Bret (champion) Vs Michaels Vs Austin. Austin winning by stunning bret and then trapping Michaels in the Sharpshooter. I would buy that for a dollar! |

no he would have stayed. He said several times that his Hart was witht he WWF and he didn't want to leave. Vince forced him out.
Bret might have captained the WWE team during the invasion. I wonder how bret would have coped with HHH being the position he is in now |

How would the booking of WM13 have changed whether or not Vince forced him out though?

If WrestleMania 13 went down as planed Mr. McMahon character, the screwjob, and Hart going to WCW all would have happened anyway.
McMahon ran out of money for Bret, so Hart went to WCW. Hart in WCW got cuncussion and his career is over. Don't see what Mania 13 has to do with anything of that... Bret still probably would have been champion at the time he left the company, so the screw job still would have happened. The Mr. McMahon character was a result o the Screwjob, NOT Austin. The two happen to fit like a hand in a glove, but they did NOT cause each other. Austin was already HUGE before that match. Don't forget Austin WAS the Royal Rumble winner that year...he was already a big time player. Odds are Austin still would have had the neck injury from Owen, so he still would have done his running around stunnering people left and right which was what made him famous and popular. The Mr. McMahon character as previously mentioned still would have come through so Austin would have a dick of a boss to flip off no matter what. Basically, not much would have changed if you ask me... |

Bret wouldn't have bitched as much going into the Survivor Series.
