Possible New SD GM?
source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
You can look forward to seeing Vickie Guerrero on television a lot over the next few months because she's going to be sticking around indefinitely. In regards to where her storyline with Theodore Long is going, the plan is for her to get him removed from his General Manager position on SmackDown. Vickie Guerrero will then become the new General Manager of SmackDown, thus replacing Long. Vince McMahon recently asked her about doing the role, and she agreed, but with one condition. She doesn't have to work too many house shows because she's raising her daughters on her own. As far as Long's WWE future is concerned, he will still remain on television, but in a different role. However, his future role hasn't been disclosed yet. Also, the original plan for the SmackDown show in San Diego two weeks ago was for her to come out and apologize to Rey Mysterio for everything she had done to him. Mysterio would be skeptical of her apology and not fully accept it. That part was nixed at the last minute. The segment would then continue with Vince & Umaga after she left the ring. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, I dunno about all that. Vickie as GM?? |

Teddy needs to become GM of Raw if this happens.

The only good thing I can see out of this is that at least Vicki's getting paid, so the Guerrero financial situation isn't totally crap.

What this is offencive to is my mind. For one, what qualifications down Vickie Guerrero have to become General Manager? I admire JBL for trying to make it seem like Vickie "managed" Eddie Guerrero to a WWE Title reign, but still, she's hardly the type of woman I see running a wrestling organisation. She's a woman raising several daughters on her own. I knew this was where the storyline on SmackDown! was going. Kristal was doing her little teases with Teddy Long to get him in a compromising position, so she could get him fired. Long sometimes gets on my nerves as General Manager (the character he's playing, not the performer), but I'd only want to see him replaced if they had some better for the role. Not someone who is going to stumble through their lines each week, and have consistently the same tone when they make matches. My original thought for Teddy's next role in the company was "Bobby Lashley's manager" as the two are on good terms storyline-wise, and Lashley with a mouthpiece is something most people agree is a good idea. Long is also a face, so they don't have to turn Lashley for this. Then I saw the RAW General Manager idea, and I didn't think that would be such a bad idea. Long would be a breath of fresh air for RAW. I think I'd rather see Eric Bischoff, though. Then I remembered ECW is looking for an authority figure. Theodore R. Long could be that man. He's a face character, but he's also a WCW/WWE guy, so that would allow him to stradle the fence between the Originals/New Breed. They might even have him develop his character further, and go back to his "The Man is trying to hold me down!" ways, furious he would be relieved of his position on SmackDown!. |

Can't the WWE pay her and just not use her on TV, and let her be with her kids? I mean, she really adds nothing to the broadcast. He's a more natural actor than some, but she really adds nothing.
Part of me wants to see Stephanie McMahon get ECW, just reminding us that she led it during the Invasion, just to piss everyone off. Bring in Paul Heyman to lead the Originals, and have Stephanie take up the "management" ideals with the New Breed and a new direction for ECW. |

Ted DiBiase, Paul Heyman, and Roddy Piper are all under some kind of contract, so WWE elects to go with Vickie Guerrero in a very key character/speaking role...

I have no problem with Vickie earning cash for her family, I question the writers for the decision to make someone who is a terrible talking, and frankly not that easy on the eye, to be one of the main focal points of a weekly TV show.

Yea, I don't fault her, nor do I find it anything Eddie would be "rolling over in his grave" about. It's more than fine, its just not going to be good. She's not a television personality and its just not going to go over well.
I don't see why you'd have her as GM when you have Heyman, Bischoff, Steph, Shane, Teddy Long and JBL under contract and doing nothing storyline wise. Plus you have Foley and Austin one phonecall/paycheck away. |

Personally I think they need a change from Teddy Long as well. They need new "authority figures" on all 3 shows really. The shows lack cohesiveness of having someone "running" them and stuff.
I'd like to see Austin or Foley made GM of Raw. I'd move Vince back over to Smackdown to throw his weight around, and make Heyman GM of ECW. They should have Bischoff as the ECW hating heel endorse the new breed team, and Heyman come back to represent his originals, and the winning team's representative becomes GM. JBL would really be a great GM but he's doing fine on commentary as it is. But a Foley/Coach co-GM situation on Raw would be gold. Same with Austin/Coach. |

Unfortunately the young kids and new marks wouldn't appreciate Dibiase. Half the current crowd would probably be like "who" when he came through the curtain to take the job. Dibiase is a legend who's legacy got lost in the cracks because of a few things, one of them being him not winning the title.

Perfect way to get him over would be to induct him to the HoF - which he deserves IMO, put a load of video montages out and then the day after Mania, bring him down as the new GM. Vince could say some BS like 'even the GM managers job has a price, and Ted paid it'. |

SmackDown! does need a new General Manager. I'd love to see it be Mick Foley. It'd remind me of the days when he used to be Commissioner. For some reason, I associate Commissioner Foley with SmackDown! more than RAW.
As previously mentioned, Theodore Long would probably be a fresh character if he jumped to ECW. Give him some of his old-school Don King-style manager persona back, and he'd be glorious in the role. Don't have him turn heel per se, but seeing as he wasn't officially associated with the original ECW, he's naturally be able to agree with the New Breed on some things. RAW should fall into the hands of either Paul Heyman, Shane McMahon or Eric Bischoff. All three would be interesting. I doubt they'd trust Heyman with such a role, especially on live TV (if he comes back anywhere, it will probably be SmackDown!), but this would really be awesome. Heyman would make me watch RAW, even if he were only performing on it, and not actually writing the show. He should then do a Coach, and also do colour commentary for Heat whilst in the authority position. Todd Grisham and Paul Heyman calling Heat would be hilarious. Move Coach to SmackDown! (he could use the breath of fresh air), and have him serve as Vince's operative on SmackDown! to make things don't get out of control. If it is Shane McMahon who gets the RAW position (more likely), I'd love to see him play more of a less evil role than Vince (which he does already). Have Shane offer a truce between him and DX, etc. Occasionally have him get pissed off with both faces and heels, and have them booked into a wall. |
