One of my favorite Wrestlemania memories
I often forget about it, but I just saw it and realized how great it truly was. At Wrestlemania XX, when Brock had announced days earlier that after all he was given, he would be up and leaving the WWE. In the wake of the years biggest event, before one of the most anticipated matches, the companies golden boy of the future straight up decides to walk out on the company they built everything on him and the fans.
So what makes it great, the fans giving it to him. Getting deafening sell out chants and the classic "nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey gooodbye" chants. It was awesome to see him stand there and get shit on by a capacity crowd in MSG. What makes it so good is the smark interaction there. In years past this never would have happened, but it was great. It kind of symbolized what Wrestlemania is now. It's really the one show a year where the company and its wrestlers have to face the jury so to speak. With tickets selling out 6 months before, and fans travelling from all over to this event, its comprised of mostly diehards and smarks. Unlike normal events that come through town and sell local tickets, it marks one of the only shows a year where its probably made up of 90% IWC type fans. So when this show comes once a year, its time for the shit to the hit the fan. It was great seeing Cena shit on at 22. just a thought, loved when this happened and I hope it continues to happen in the future. discuss. |
