The latest on Bret Hart and Chris Benoit concering WMXX and Benoit's title run

Huge Exclusive Update On Bret Hart's WWE Return

February 20, 2004

Vince McMahon has officially made an offer and invited Bret Hart to make one final WWE appearance at the companies biggest PPV � WrestleMania XX. The invitation isn�t to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame or to be part of the Chris Benoit angle, it would be an opportunity for Hart to make a speech to the fans and say his final goodbye.

Many believe that if WWE do decide to have Chris Benoit become World Heavyweight Champion, he wont win it at WrestleMania, he�d have to wait until the following PPV, Backlash, which will be in his home town, Edmonton, where he will win the belt in front of his home town fans.

Then who is going to win the title at WMXX??? Once again, I and many of the people here have stated that I will not watch wrestling if HHH walks out with that title. Now if Michaels does, I will still have faith because he will probably do the job to Benoit in Edmonton. Of course two theories could happen from that. Hart instead of making just 1 appearance makes 2. At Backlash he would hit Michaels with a chair or the title (note that Michaels is champ) and then Benoit would latch on the Crossface like 3-5 minutes after that. Or the ultimate swerve angle could occur? And what do you think that is? I wanna hear people's thoughts before I say what it would be.

It would be great if Bret returned at WMXX, even if it was only to say goodbye, he, more than anyone in the business deserves to be a part of wrestling's biggest spectacle in some way. Bret will probably deny all knowledge of such an approach by Vince, as seems to be the way when these stories surface.

I believe HBK will be the one to finally de-throne HHH, because Shawn has and will always be "The golden boy" of wrestling. When i say this, i mean, no matter what he does(i.e being involved in the famous screw job), I believe the fans will never be to hate him. Remember when he joined the NWO for that short period and did a promo trashing all the fans and junk like that,nobody believed for one second that he meant it.

There are pro's and con's to Benoit not going over at Mania', the main con being that we will undoubtly see HHH challenge Benoit upon his return, stating the obvious "You didnt beat the game" garbage.

K since people are just viewing and not posting, I'll stir this topic up a little bit.

As much as I would not want it to happen, this could be the ultimate swerve angle: Benoit and Shawn wrestling for the title, when Bret's music hits and he comes down to the ring. (The Ref is knocked out at this time, inadvertent bump, not a My-Name-Is-HHH-bum-and-i-can-abuse-the-officials-whenever-I-want-bump). But instead of hitting Michaels, he hits Benoit. Shawn then puts Benoit in the Sharpshooter, Bret wakes the official up, and puts into account that Benoit is knocked out and cannot continue the match.

(Note: This is in Benoit's hometown and they like to screw the hometown boys)
(Note#2: This will probably never happen, because of his Wrestlemania Speech and all, but I believe that this would be the Ultimate Swerve angle ever)

When I first heard that Benoit would win the Rumble and go over to RAW to be honest i wasn't in great favour of the idea, because I thought that when Brock did drop the title and he was actually out of the title picture then Benoit would get his chance either against a face or Heel Eddie which no doubt would be some awesome matches because of the history between the two.

When Benoit did come to RAW i was generally excited that he was seemingly finally getting his title shot and run (even tho Benoit was champion twice by beating The Rock at two seperate events only to be told to continue the matches and lose both times because of comissoner Foley, i think it happened twice and both times to the Rock, think one of the events was Fully Loaded, but this is from memory so I could be wrong)

But things were looking up for Benoit and I wasn't put off by the introduction of HBK because he would only add strength to the match, I also started to believe that Benoit would go over and win at mania even tho it was looking like he was going over on Michaels, but i think that no more, the last few weeks the writing team has totally buried Benoit again and again.

As for the Bret thing it would be awesome to see him do something productive with the HBK/Benoit/HHH(Just cos Hunter will have to be in there somewhere in the title picture, even if he is going to be going movies, no doubt a HHH picture will float past the screen at least four times every RAW show hes not there) But i think the goodbye speech is all we'll get from the Hitman.

I will order WM XX (first PPV I'd ever order) just to see Bret Show up one final time. Now, considering that I can watch WM XX for free, that's saying something.

I'd like to see him say his farewell, or maybe get involved in the aftermath of the triple threat match (but not in the match itself).

Bret Hart making a speech is a stupid idea, it's a waste of time having a guy that isn't on the WWE roster, and won't be on the WWE roster in the future to make a speech. It'll just be a 10 minute hole in Wrestlemania where they won't have wrestling. We all know how Bret feels about the fans and the company, I don't think he should waste his time to go to New York this March it'll just be stupid.

I have this really strong feeling that Bret Hart WILL come back at Wrestlemania, but I doubt it'll go further than a farewell spee....NO!! Here's what will happen:
He'll give a speech and later that night when hhh is out of the ring somewhere and hbk is in control against benoit and gives him the sweet chin music and is about to go for a pin and bret will run out and make the save and cost hbk the title which will set up michaels-hart for backlash!!!!!!
