HBK Upset About 'Mania Match

From Rajah.com

Quote:
The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer appeared on the Live Audio Wrestling radio show on Sunday night after WrestleMania and he said that Shawn Michaels was extremely upset and unhappy with his match against John Cena. When he got backstage, he was screaming about how terrible he thought it was.

After the match had concluded, there was a spot where HBK abruptly walked away from a Cena handshake attempt which was not scripted, as they were supposed to shake hands. Michaels was red hot at Cena for not selling his leg that he spent the first few minutes of the match working on. Also, several of the agents were unhappy with Cena for that as well. In fact, you could see during the match that HBK got in Cena's face and started cutting a shoot promo on him, which is why the audio went out for a few seconds and was replaced with crowd noise.
I guess there are still traces of the old HBK around...but I can't help agree.

Well, it was Cena he was facing, why am I not surprised by this? This had the potential to be a classic match, but it seems Cena knows he's getting a free ride in WWE and just doesn't care as much. Seems to be all about him rather than the match itsself.

That shit with him talking to him when he was down, that was freaky, almost as if Michaels had left his body and was in another world. I thought for a second that Cena had a legit injury and they were talking about what to do and Michaels was covering it.

Cena is fucking useless as far as I'm concerned. Sunday was no exception.

I was wondering why they cut the audio.

I hope this spells the end of Cena's Super Man style.

Looked pretty indyish not selling it for a longer time, not something you'd expect from the WWE Champ

You know, watching it again there were quite a few instances where Michaels didn't seem in character and had a "I want to fuck you up"/Cocky type of look to him.

Actually, I had noticed that through the entire match up. Like "does he really want to kill Cena tonight or something?"

Almost wish he had.

Michaels obviously knew from the word go how Cena was going to be, so put on that persona from the beginning, what with the sitting on the ropes and shit.

I should blame him, but I don't.

If Michaels can get into Hunter's ear things may pick up. Or, in Cena's case, bog down.

I'll say this, Cena has always had potental...but his face persona is too stale and he really never improved his in ring ability (something he admitted he couldn't probably do 3 years ago).

He doesn't need to though, like others have said, he's a suck-up to McMahon in the back and has the kids cheering for him - so therefore getting a free ride.

I've said for a long time (and been shot down a lot for it too) that Cena - as champion, has as much say in the direction of his character as the bookers do. He's the most marketable star (I won't argue that) and could easily say to people in the back - You know, its time for me to lose the Superman thing. It's time for me to be a heel. It's time for me to do something more than I was doing 3/4 years back. It's time for me to drop the title and chase it, maybe even dip into a no.1 contenders feud with Orton for a while.

People say 'well the Rock only had 5 moves etc etc', the difference being that The Rock was far far more over than Cena is, and he was unafraid of losing big matches, as was Austin. Unafraid of others being over.

He's the Hulk Hogan of now, probably an indication of why Michaels said what he did Monday night. Brother.

This is what happens when you book a wrestler as a superman. He forgets how to sell properly and becomes superman.

I'm not gonna fault HBK for being mad in this case. He's got a point.

So if I went to Vegas and put a bet on how long it would take WWE to realize that Cena is retarded, I got a feeling it would look like this

20-1 Cena has a few more matches at house shows to get him back into shape

50-1 Cena drops title and wrestles more of the 3rd or 4th spot on the card rather than 1st or 2nd

1000-1 Cena drops title...get de-pushed to Heat, and we never hear or see his ass around unless we choose to.

My mom, who decided to sit down and watch the match with me and my friends, even commented on it. The whole time she was like Shawn Michaels is gonna hurt him and then Cena gets up and she says what the hell happened to his leg i thought he was hurt

If my mom can point it out, then it was pretty bad

Yeah, I especially remember watching that spot where Cena ran full tilt with the clothesline like nothing was wrong with his leg and thinking, 'what the fuck'? I do not even recall Cena even trying to sell the leg injury from that point on.

I still think it was better than most John Cena matches and I enjoyed it... well, except for John Cena winning that is.

I still think Shawn Michaels should have shaken John Cena's hand at the end of the match though if that was 'scheduled' to happen, and dealt with the situation when both guys were behind the curtain.

No. I'm hoping this leads to the re-emergence of the politicking, I don't lay down for anyone, asshole Shawn Michaels - that everyone loves.

Wow. I love how the people that reported this had the journalistic integrity to actually check this before criticising Shawn Michaels.

The reason I say this is because Meltzer never said any of this, it's been made up by some internet fanboy. If you want to listen to Meltzer on the LAW, then go to liveaudiowrestling.com - click on the icon in the top right corner and fast forward to 45 minutes in when he comes on - none of this is mentioned whatsoever.

The very nature of the story is hilarious, like selling the leg is what makes a match. Shawn wouldn't give a fuck about that, he's old school, it's never about "selling the body part", wrestling is about drama, he knows it, he wouldn't give two shits if he sold the leg at the finish or not.

You know, watching that main event has made me go from absolutely hating Cena, to really just shaking my head at him.

That being said, I feel really badly for the guys that have to continue to job to him time and time again as the WWE feeds their financial monster. Yeah, I 'did' notice HBK's attitude during the match, and it was very apparent that he was frustrated with the match. Hell, I was frustrated with it.

I remember back when HHH was dominating and he came up to take on Cena, and what did HHH do? He did what everyone 'wanted' him to do at the time, and jobbed, even tapping like a little bitch for Super Cena. I was one of the people ready for him to do the job, yet, afterward, it was really kind of sickening.

I think even Cena felt a little sick, and honestly, I think you can see it on his face. I honestly believe he tries to be a good performer, but he just doesn't have it. If you watch that match again, after HBK taps, Cena almost seems embarrased. And I don't know about you, but that was one of the most understated 'Mania main event celebrations I have 'ever' seen.

Edit: I think I was reading a comment by Alienoid on another thread about Cena being pulled outof the title picture for awhile to work some non-title fueds until HHH returns. I think that's a great idea. Edge and Orton haven't really had a chance to really make a pull run...and it might be the most entertaining thing on in quite awhile. Hell, I'll tune in just to see a main event that doesn't involve HHH, Cena, or HBK. Kennedy, Lashley, Edge and Orton getting a big run doesn't bother me one bit.

I truly believe if they did that, HBK would have killed him backstage. Michaels works on the knee for upwards of 8-10 minutes in the match and then Cena just no sells it.

It's as if the new glass ceiling goes

I didn't notice, but did anyone notice if Michaels worked stiff on RAW?

Edit: What the hell am I talking about? He and Cena had one spot.

I don't think Shawn Michaels is the guy to work stiff, anyway.

I checked Rajah this morning, and I didn't notice any article reporting this, so I'm assuming it was taken down, which makes me think that the previous accusation of this being bullshit is accurate.

The match was underwhelming, though, especially for a WrestleMania. People who thought it was going to be a classic must have egg on their face.

Decent is far from classic. People were talking about how this could be a MOTYC, and be up there with the greatest WrestleMania events of all-time. That was a little silly.

I don't think I will ever use the Term Classic match, and the name John Cena in the same sentence.

Actually I don't think 98.343% of the IWC would either.

That's a good point. I'd like nothing more than for this to be legit. Cena is not the saviour of professional wrestling like the WWE makes him out to be.
