ATTN: People in bands (Who are your influences)

Who are your influences? (ie. if you are a bassist, which bassists do you study?)

I drum, so:

Chad Sexton (311)
Jose Passillas (Incubus)
Travis Barker (Love the AOL music sessions with The Game)
Matt Sorum (G&R, Velvet Revolver)
Eric Kertz (STP)
Paul Powell, Mark Nichols (Lilly Allen)
Tommy Lee
Mike D (Beastie Boys)
?uestlove
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
Neil Peart (Rush)

But my vision is probably more influenced by 311. (Because we got an MC who sounds really like a cross between SA Martinez and Del)

Not sure if adding a female lead (vocal) would be a good thing or a bad thing....

Guitar

I started playing guitar because I liked the sound of it in Blink 182, so I guess Tom Delonge was the reason I got into it, but I haven't played a blink song in years..

Corey Steger (Underoath)
Kerry King/Jeff Hanneman (Slayer)
Joel Stroetzel (Killswitch Engage/Aftershock)
Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
Chad Waldrup (Hopesfall)

Probably the main five.

Guitar: pretty much all the big name shredders:

John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
Criss Oliva (Savatage)
Jim Matheos (Fates Warning)

Then there's all those guys like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Dave Mustaine, Axel Rudi Pell, Timo Tollki etc.

I play along to the above mentioned. But I play more for rap and funk. I learn from most genres and apply it however. Depends on my mood and who's on the mic
