Gary Rosen died, BTW
I don't know if anyone even knows who the fuck that is, but the act RosenSchontz was quite popular in my youth. They were local to Vermonters, but they were seminal enough that their song "Teddybear's picnic" was featured in the Simpsons, the Kids in the Hall, etc. They were definitely a kid's act, but a well-known one, if for no other reason than that song.
Rosen died two weeks ago due to ALS (I think). “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”--John Rogers |
