I've never seen any 1PW but I've heard good things. A promotion called K-Star used to wrestle around here all the time for about £2 but haven't seen those in ages. There is another promotion around here I've seen advertise recently but can't remember the name (around Birmingham area I mean).

Is K-Star not still around?

As for the Brum ones, would that not be AWW, SWWA (West Brom) maybe, FCW (Dudley)? AWW is in Birmingham, Digbeth usually. I know a bunch of guys that wrestle there. Not a bad show.

As a British person, it pains me to say, but British wrestling is the shits. I can't sit through a Brit promotion TV show on TWC for an entire hour, it's fucking awful.

Seeing a show in person is most definitely the way to go 'cause the production values, small venues etc are all gonna take away from a TV show.

I went to IPW once as well. That was a bit painful, although now and again they seem to put on ok stuff.

And yes, 1PW is run by a bunch of fucking retards. Their fanboys even started shit at the King of Europe thingy last weekend (or so the UKFF says - always good for gossip)

I used to go to local shows in my home town, promoted by 'Rowdy' Ricky Knight and Mad Eli (a tireless charity worker adorned in hundreds of badges who has been in the business since the 'glory' days and usuallu sits in the audience heckling the heels), but they stopped coming.

I was supposed to go to a show on Saturday featuring Billy Kidman, but it turned out that it was an old poster for April 28th 2006, so I felt like a mug.

Lol, Mad Eli. That guy gave me so much support and stuff... I remember when people were booing me (for being a heel) he was always cheering me. Also, he kept going on about how much I looked like Robbie Brookside (I had long hair at the time).

Ricky Knight

As far as I know, I have a booking in a few weeks in Stoke 'cause Knight's using a bunch of regulars from BWA so they need some gaps filling.

If you don't mind me asking where abouts are you from?
Bridgend, South Wales, a town near Cardiff.

Mad Eli is a legend, we got pissed with him in the bar after a show and he was telling us about the decline of the British wrestling scene. It's sad to hear.

They used to put on a good show, with Ricky Knight, Ashe, Jamie Lee, Bash, Johnny Storm, Sweet Saraya, and others.

Eli,

Although he can be a bit weird, as a worker he's by far the best guy to have in the crowd as he really gets the fans going.

As for RQW, personally it's not for me, it looks like they have problems promoting there own shows for TV let alone using other promotions matches, they have really good production values and with a bit more guidance on the promotional front they could do alright.

LDN, I'll admit I'm biased towards LDN as I know Bagga and loads of the workers for them (Had a fucking cracking match with Tex Benedict the other night), but I know all the effort that Bagga has put into the shows and that he's re-investing the cash to make the shows look better, sure it's not the best TV show in the world, but the style of the matches is British ala world of sport and that separates it from the other stuff and does get some pretty impressive viewing figures.

1pw, I can't stand, I went to one of the shows they did only to see Tanaka Vs Joe, it ended after 5 minutes. The rest of the card that night was sub par, to me it's not even a UK fed, it's just a US supershow with a few UK workers on it. The TV show was very poorly done and the bullshit with the way gauntly dealt with them going 'bankrupt' was symbolics, yes they are still around and yes they have a fanboy appeal, but it's really like marmite, you either love it or you hate it.

FWA, were basically 1pw, running shows in a similar way, bringing in US guys to get the ticket sales up, when they ran out of money and couldn't bring in any imports, the crowds went down, they didn't produce enough TV and lost the contract they had with TWC, which has only been a good thing for the UK wrestling scene as others now get a chance. Plus as Rob will tell you, Alex Shane isn't a very nice man.

Me, I work for the CSF, to be fair no one outside of the south west really knows us as we are not an internet fed, we do get some very good crowds though for what we are, earlier this year in my home town of Yate I wrestled infront of 620 people. We don't tend to run many angles as we run 5 different venues that are miles away from each other and fans don't tend to travel, we are looking to get a few more venues, we have a good working relationship with LDN as well and a few of the CSF matches have been shown on LDN TV and now a few of our workers are also being used on TV, which is great to see.

Sweeeet. And 620 people? Just from what I know with helping out on promotion up here, 620 people is fucking impressive man.

So any of you Brit wrestlers on here ever worked with Mike 'Majik' Connell? I was supposed to promote a charity show or 2 with him a few years back but it fell through.

Was on the same show as him a week ago last Sunday. Charity show thing. He worked a singles match. Seemed nice enough. Introduced himself etc. Seemed very professional.

Burridge

Urgh.

From what I've seen of him, really good wrestler with a distinct British wrestling sytle, just wish he'd drop the chav gimmick now, he's better than that, it's got him recognition, now it's time for him to get himself over without fluffy dice

I dont think the UK is a big enough market to sustain a full time wrestling fed unfortunately. Maybe six or seven years ago there were enough casual fans, but now its just down to smarks to carry the feds its inevitable that companies like FWA and 1PW aren't going to last long. You can see this from when ROH come touring and still dont sell out the building.

However, I think British wrestlers are the best they've ever been. Old favourites like Regal and Fleisch are still proving to be the most underrated in the business, while Steve Lewington and Burchill are tearing it up in OVW.
