Mel Making More Maverick
Gibson and Garner to reteam?

May 1, 2007 - In this day and age, Hollywood will make a sequel to just about anything. But here's one we bet you never saw coming... Mel Gibson, according to a report from the World Entertainment News Network, is plotting a follow-up to Maverick.

The 1994 Western comedy starred Gibson along with James Garner and Jodie Foster. And now, Gibson says he's keen to get back in the saddle. "There's talk of doing another Maverick," the actor-filmmaker tells WENN. "Garner and I have been looking at that for a while."

"It'd be fun to play that character again. I think audiences would probably like to see him again too," Gibson says. "We really cooked the first time. We've got some great ideas--I think audiences will enjoy what we've got in mind."

Despite the audacity of this project, Gibson asserts that he has no plans to pull a Stallone and bring back his two most famous franchises. He says, "We've put Mad Max and Lethal Weapon behind us now. There's nowhere to move with those characters. We were pushing it with the last ones."

I loved Maverick. It's a movie I can watch over and over and not get tired of. Hopefully this will be done soon.
