99% sure they wouldn't. I don't know Walmart's policy, but most places won't let you return phone cards, gift cards, game time cards, points cards, and really anything like that.
Assuming that it really doesn't work, you have to go through Microsoft. Last edited by Xero; 05-12-2007 at 02:42 PM. |

Or Nintendo, whichever system it's for. That's why it's better just to use a credit card and go directly though the purchasing system, less hassle if something's fucked up.

They'd HAVE to replace it Xero. It’s a little thing we like to call a DEFECTIVE PRODUCT...
Then again you’re probably right...most WAL«MART™ (size and font done for emphasis on their greed to build SuperCenters in every square inch of the world) employees probably don’t even know huge words like defective or product, if any words at all.

one time i tried to exchange an open game for the same copy, to get a sealed one, but they opened the new one. so at least some of them know what they are doing.

I think Wal*Mart can check to see if the card has been activated or not if you take it to Customer Service.

According to WalMart.com's return policy: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=538459
Electronic and plastic gift cards: Not returnable or refundable for cash, except in states where required by law. Now, I know it says "gift card", but I know for a fact other places like Best Buy WILL NOT take them back no matter what. Since you can't PROVE it was "defective" before you bought it, it makes sense. That's why you need to go through the main company. |

For example, here is Best Buy's take on it:
Non-returnable items Non-returnable items include labor and/or installation services, consumable items such as phone cards, iTunes prepaid music cards, Best Buy Digital Music Store cards, food and drink, or items that are damaged or abused. Opened computer software, movies, music and video games can be exchanged for the identical item but cannot be returned for a refund. |

In most cases, the only person required to warranty a product is the manufacturer. Wal-Mart and other stores in most cases are able to draw the line on what they will or won't accept.
Though it's funny. Some shit at Wal-Mart, I can't return in VT. But there's a NH Wal-Mart 20 minutes away. I shit you not. So because of different legalities.... |

I don't know. MAYBE Wii points cards can be returned. I mean, they are sealed up in plastic and all. Xbox live points get swiped out and I guess sent to HQ. You then get an E-mail on activation.

If you make a big scene about it you can usually get what you want. Managers don't like scenes like that and don't want other customers seeing someone unhappy. Just start getting loud and waving your arms like a crazy man.

They'll take Microsoft cards, it's a known issue among retailers that some 360 point card rub off and so there is a deal with us and Microsoft to where we get repayed for defected cards believe it or not.
