Why can't Austin wrestle?
http://tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?t=63012
There is a report on MTV.com claiming that Stone Cold Steve Austin would like to face rap legend Snoop Dogg in the ring for a match. Obviously a work due to the fact that Austin can’t wrestle, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Technically, he can. His neck would be okay. At least for a few matches anyway.
He just has no desire to. I'd have thought we'd see him wrestle at least once more though. I mean, this is wrestling. |

His neck prevents him from working like he used to so there's no point really.

No, CSL is right. He said recently that he feels really healthy and would be fine to work a few matches. But he just has no reason to, and would need a damn good reason to put his body through it again, seeing as he is financially well off.

I really wish we would see an Austin/Hogan match but I know both men refuse to job for the other. I just wish Hogan would since he's won the last couple of matches he's been in.

He also recently indicated that wrestling would leave him in severe pain, and wasn't worth the risk.

Okay...I'll speak on your level: Austin can carry Hogan in the match and make him look good and Hogan can return the favor by jobbing to him.
I want the match to happen and so do a lot of other people. It's been a fantasy match of mine for ten years and I don't think I'm alone. I honestly doubt it will ever happen sadly since both men refuse to job to the other. Believe it or not, I'm on Austin's side. Since the days of the classic good guy in wrestling are over, it's only fitting for the last hero to lose to the man who made being bad, cool. |

![]() On my level. ![]() Bless you dear child. Austin cannot carry Hogan to a good match. Simple as. A streetfight/no DQ type schtick might have worked but there is nobody to take the bumps and add the 'holy shit' factor. Austin himself said the match would suck. But what would he know ![]() |

Austin was great once, but he's not great anymore. He can still work the stick, and he could probably be good if carried, but he's not in a position to carry something as worthless as Hogan. I don't hate Austin, but I'm realistic. He's a bit broken down. |

Okay, how about an old-school match where there are no huge bumps? Just good old-fashion wrestling. I think Austin and Hogan could handle that. And besides, there doesn't just have to be good wrestling to make a match great. Austin and Hogan are both very good at the psychology thing and could make the match seem like it was the greatest match ever and only the wrestling "experts" would be whining about it. |

2. Even if it did, you are being very short-sighted here. Both these guys are well past their prime. I'm not talking Flair "I'm still as good as any guy on the current roster" past his prime either. These guys are broken down. They've got a bad neck, replaced hips and 2 sets of torn up knees between them. Face facts, THEY ARE PAST IT. 3. No one could carry the other. Austin could in the past, but the past is gone. They're both brawlers. They're both old. No bumps and snail's pace = boring. 4. Psychology is great if you're not talking about the patented Hulk Hogan "I job to no one" logic. This match would suck. Chances are, 10 years ago this match would suck too. |

Yeah, not seeing his age. I'd guess he was 12. Also, what Funky said. Especially the bit about Hogan and Psychology. That's like saying "Gregory House" and "courteous" in the same sentence. |

Austin said he could come back and wrestlie for a while, but would leave him in pretty bad shape (as stated above a couple of times).
I remember reading that he's enjoying fishing, hunting, and things like that. I don't think he wants to live with even more pain. He's had his time on top and did wonders for wrestling. He could probably still has a couple of good matches left in him, but I'd rather he just make an occasional appearance every few months/once a year. He went out on top (sort of). I think one more match would be fine, but I don't even really want that. I can't think of a kayefabe reason why he'd wrestle one more match. I bet WWE wants him to face Cena... and job. |
