Official MB's Thoughts on Raw Thread 3rd Edition (Potential Spoilers)
1) I laughed out loud at the limo explosion. I think it is time for VKM to step aside for a while but I don't think that was a smart way to go about doing it. I'm sure down the line he'll come back and admit to faking his death to see if anyone would give a damn or something of the sorts...

2) The draft itself was a little underwhelming. I felt there were some good moves, such as Kennedy to Raw, but overall I think they didn't take full advantage of an opportunity to really mix it up and jumpstart their storylines and programming.

3) I don't want to see John Cena vs. Edge ever again. Ever. Under any circumstances. I am so god damn sick and tired of it.

4) I'm glad to see Lashley without a belt.

5) I'm worried about seeing Lashley with a more important belt in the near future.

6) I hope the ECW Title picture begins to revolve around Benoit/Cor Von or Benoit/Burke. I'd like to see Benoit take the strap and then fued with one or the other. I think at the moment, I'd prefer Cor Von to Burke.

7) I hope that in tomorrow's "supplemental draft" Marella and MVP get swapped between Raw and Smackdown.

8) Overall, though it was a little bland, last nights raw was one of the better ones of recent memory and a huge step forward from last week.

9) Matt Hardy has upper-card, maybe main event potential. I'm on the bandwagon now and I never thought I'd say it. The crowd was into him vs. Orton at the end, hell, I was actually into it too. Hardy came across holding his own against the Legend Killer and the crowd was 99% behind him. He worked the match well, as did Orton. I think it's now or never for him though. He isn't going to get any better so it's time to see if he really has it. Put him in a fued with Edge over the WHC. Don't just throw the title on him, but see how the crowd responds to him competing with Edge, and at a high level in general. If he is well received enough (as I think he would be), turn it into an epic, long-term fued with Hardy picking up the gold along the way.

10) I saw a sign that said "Val Venis #1 Draft Pick"...and I wanted to know if Alienoid was there.

You know what, I'm slowly becoming a Matt Hardy fan, I mean the guy busts his ass in the ring, and is probably one of the harder woking men in the business, also knowing that if Matt does make it to the Main Event level, I will know that he did it the hard way, and that he earned his spot. Instead of kissing the people who has pull backstage asses, or trying to marry into the McMahon family.

I wouldnt mind seeing a program with Orton and Hardy, because Edge could easily be weaved intot that program.

Now with all that said, Hardy needs new theme music, a new attitude, and some new ring attire, and maybe even a new finish.

I think he needs to "bad ass" up a little, attitude wise. Kinda like 'Im sick of playing 2nd fiddle, now Im taking place at the top and there aint a damn thing anybody can do about it'.

Thats what I was thinking. Although outside of wrestling he seems like a "bad ass". For example how he reacts to his break up with Lita. Watch how he threatens Edge.

The draft seemed completely secondary to Vince. I mean we started the show with Vince. Before every commercial break, something about Vince. After every commercial break, something about Vince. Sprinkled between matches, people talking about Vince. End the show with Vince getting blown up. We get it, WWE is all about Vince. Now for the next month, everything is going to be about Vince being dead. Lord forbid they do anything not about Vince.

Oh, and I could have done without Moolah and Mea Young coming out. Then they had to start barking and being dumb. Who thought that was a good idea?

Yeh that Moolah and Mae You thing was horrible in every way possible.

But, interesting point I hadn't thought of regarding Vince. I was little happy/relieved we were going to get a break from him, but NO. You are totally right on, all we are going to hear about for months now is the death of Vince McMahon.

Will Smackdown have all the WWE staff come out and cry they way the did for Owen and Eddie? I mean it would be in poor taste, but how could they not if he is "dead?'

I personally like the angle. Whether or not it ends up turning into a pile of shit remains to be seen....but it's different. Anything that breaks up the "SAME OLD SHIT" mentality is fine with me. I'm interested where this goes and anything that gets me interested in watching Raw again is .

I think they HAVE to have a ceremony and make it seem real to hold any shred of credibility to the angle. If they just go about their business as usual I think it instantly ruins the angle. If they want to make this work, even though it might be seen as a bit of a slap in the face of Owen and Eddie, they HAVE to milk it for all its worth. Opening moment of silence, VKM armbands, wrestlers sharing memories, tribute matches, etc...

This should be a ratings boost for ECW tonight. They have to at least address the issue...

Scratch that, this is WWE writing, and it could already be scrapped and Vince will open the show just acting crazy still and as if nothing happened.

But then if they over due and try to give off the idea that Vince really is dead, that will only ruin his credibility even more. And by credibility I mean with media etc out side of wrestling. Inside wrestling I'm pretty sure its been destroyed for some time.

Inevitably though, you know he is going to come back with some kind of angle for explaination. Either he faked his death, or he escaped the limo, something...So I don't think it would be to damaging to him publicly or within the wrestling world if they played it out to the max.

According to PWI, he didn't. Most workers were shocked.


BTW, they did the explosion on Sunday and spliced the footage cleanly into the live footage of Vince getting into the limo. Nicely done, I must say, since there are no visible seams where you can see editing being done. And being able to play off The Sopranos was pure luck (the angle had been planned for two weeks).

I DVR'd the show and went back to try and look for the editing and couldn't see anything. And I've done film editing before (though I'm not a pro or expert or anything) and I could not detect the change over. The was truly masterful work.

I tried looking for that. I taped that RAW and it was a pretty clean change

Besides Vince will survive, Triple H survived a '50 foot" drop in a car without being crushed, or even suffereing a scratch really.

I was telling my woman about it and how this means Vince will be off of tv for about 6 months to year, when ever the writers forget he is suppose to be dead. Then made mention of the fact that wrestlers have survived similar stunts only to come back and wrestle later the day or week.

Matt Hardy in the battle royal was pretty sweet. For him to be taken seriously as a main eventer he needs new music, attire, and like said, needs to bad ass it up. Maybe slightly change it up in the ring. He'd probably shine better in the ring if he had more time to shocase his skills.
