Trouble in Paradise
So, Ron Killings and Konnan have allegedly quit TNA. Killings has been upset for some time, but I haven't heard anything negative about Konnan. Do you think this is an isolated incident? Or are rumors true about backstage unrest in TNA?

This could be a huge deal if there is widespread disgruntlement in the locker room. The death of TNA could come sooner that we think.

I Knew Killings was going to sooner then later, he's been asking to be realesed for some time. But Konnan? Im shocked, I liked him as the mouth piece and brains behind LAX. I wonder their going to do with the group now that Konnan is gone. I liked LAX.

Yeh, Konnan really suprises me and thats what really makes me wonder if things are getting bad backstage.

Konnan could also be leaving because he wants to be more involved in his Mexican promotion. TNA just had one of it best PPV's in a long time, and things have actually been looking good for the last little bit, so I would be surprised.

Possible. But I had read a lot about Konnan really 'believing' in Homicide and Hernandez and LAX as a unit, and how he really wanted to get them over and yada yada yada. I guess plans can change, but this is very VERY sudden.

So. Where are they going to go? Burke and K-Kwik look exactly the same so I doubt WWE will take him, but that didn't stop them from slapping Monty Brown and Lashley in the same product. And isn't the WWE still pissed at Konnan for Max Moon?

You're exactly right, or so I've read.

Konnan has been serving as a booker and a part of management for the AAA promotion, which has been rumoured to be expanding into the United States. Konnan's loyalties have apparently always been with AAA, and even TNA knew that if it came down with them, Konnan would choose the battery, and not the porn flick.

Apparently Ron Killings is going to work for AAA, too. Hmm, I think Japan would actually be a better place for him. That or the American independent scene. I wonder if World Wrestling Entertainment would snatch him up. If so, Killings has nothing to lose. Except his dignity, but K-Kwik already did that. If the WWE had balls, I'd love to see them tackle the Cena/Killings issue.

When I was at Vengeance last year, he was there. And by there I mean not just sitting in the stands. Like, he just strolled on in to the back area while we were waiting in line, and then after the show came driving out in what appeared to be one of the vehicles the WWE rents out.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but Konnan has a reputation for being a trouble maker backstage kinda like Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell?

As for Ron Killings, he sucks anyhow.

Honestly, I kinda see this as getting rid of dead wieght from TNA, I would have been shocked if it said like AJ Styles or Sting left. Cause AJ is pretty much their boy, and Sting is a stand up guy for the most part.

Konnan and Ron Killings are more of just exrta guys that have gone on past their usefulness.

I'm okay with the both of them. I like Konnan as a manger. And I think Ron Killings is decent in the ring, but a little annoying on the mic. I think he would be good to thicken up the mid-card a little bit right now in the WWE.

Never mind the death of TNA, I think the Sports Entertainment industry in general could be on borrowed time.

With the momentum of UFC/MMA, I think the WWE might be in deep shit as well. Especially when you consider that there are practically no rising stars in the WWE (none of which really have potential to draw big).

MMA/UFC/Shoot Fighting in general, and Sports Entertainment, do not share a single audience. There are some places where their audiences overlap, but it isn't the same grouping. There will always be fans who want characters, storylines, etc, that they'll never get from a "real fighting" promotion. Likewise, there are some people who just prefer to see two guys beat the shit out of each other for entirely non-personal reasons. The crossover appeal is an important factor, yes, but I really don't think we'll be seeing "WWE put out of business by UFC" anytime soon.

I agree that WWE won't die any time soon (my mistake if I implied that), but I still think people WILL draw a comparison to UFC.

With UFC gaining (massive) momentum, I think the WWE needs to careful with anything that comes across as too cheesy (i.e. McMahon dying).

I'm too lazy to explain my logic or whatever, but call it a gut feeling.

UFC is not killing wrestling either. That is like saying football is killing baseball. They are completely different sports, sure they are all after the same demographic, but there is enough tv for them all to share.

Yeah I dunno.

UFC isn't "killing" WWE (by any means), but they aren't "apples and oranges" like football and basketball are (although I guess that's debatable).

Regardless - I just hope that the WWE doesn't get too cheesy with their storylines (whether the "cheesiness" of WWE storylines ultimately draws more and more people to UFC is debatable.....I dunno....I don't care anymore. )
