Best UK PPV
Two things really - what do UK fans - or US fans who have seen the latter DVDs - think is the best UK Only PPV?
Sadly there aren't many to choose from and the majority of the events were worse than the last few GABs, but I'll have to go for One Night Only (1997) or Insurrextion 2001.... Last edited by True Brit Grit; 07-15-2007 at 03:53 PM. |

Ok, well, I'll clarify and say UK ONLY PPV.
Otherwise I certainly would have agreed with you. Bobby 'King of England' Henan and all that. |

Oh yeah, shit, missed out the only.
Never really bothered watching the UK only ones as the only titles to ever change hands was the European and womens. |

The hardcore title changed hands at Innsurextion 2000, Bulldog beat Crash for it. I was there and marked like a bitch.

Insurrextion 2001, me front row 10 year old kid in between Paul Heyman and Michael Cole, on T.V several times, so naturally that wins for me.
Capital Carnage 1998 was really good too. Jacquelines boobs made it great. |

One Night Only '97, or Rebellion 2000. The rest sucked.

I loved the one where Gillberg opened up against Tiger Ali Singh. Gilberg looked indestructible.
I don't know if it was the same one but there was one with Austin's title on the line in a triple threat match against Triple H and The Undertaker during the Corporate Ministry days. I remember it seemed better than the PPV that was around the same time may have been a Backlash where it was simply Austin versus Undertaker. What about Battle Royale at the Royal Albert Hall for a UK only event from October 1991? Good old Bulldog. |

Do you think they will ever do a proper PPV in the UK again?

Well let's face it, having Raw or Smackdown over here is more prestigious and we kind of get it for free.

I think it's going to happen, eventually. Titles are changing hands in the UK, more and more British wrestlers are turning up and getting bigger roles within the company. The British market is no longer as "niche" for the WWE as it used to be.
I say just go all-out and have WrestleMania XXVI in England, or something. |

Had 2 really good tag matches. Rockers vs Nasty Boys and LOD vs Power and Glory! Everybody in matches, then all in the battle royal at the end. How every small time wrestling show in this country was booked for well over 10 years afterwards! Either that, or One NIght Only. That was the one with HBK vs Davey at the end right? Ive been to alot of House shows and PPV's when thay have been here, but I just don't seem to remember the details of them. I remember the last one I went was in Manchester, and opened with Edge vs Christian in a cage match. Thats all I got. ![]() |

And given the close proximity of the European market in comparrison to The States, It would sell out no matter what price the tickets were, in minutes. |

I don't think I could imagine a Wrestlemania being held outside of the States, for some reason. Another major PPV would be good.

One Night Only.
But there was a couple of earlier ones I liked that Coliseum put out in the early 90's. I want to say Rampage. |

Yeah, UK Rampage. Was Davey Boy doing a hip toss on the cover. Hogan/Slaughter was the main event. The 93 tour was called European Rampage. That wasn't filmed though I don't think. |

I'm pretty happy with Raw and Smackdown twice a year. That's not BAD.
The Royal Rumble in the U.K somewhere would be a dream though! also lol @ nearly year old thread. I still agree with my previous comment though. Carnage 98, Insurrextion 2001. |

Here's the review I wrote a few years ago (2002, as I just discovered) on Amazon about Capital Carnage.

I've been to The Royal Albert Hall recently, and although it's got a small capacity, (5,222) I kept thinking it'd be an awesome place to have a WWE event just for the atmosphere alone.

They held a taped show there in 1991. The setting was amazing.
Look up Battle Royal At The Albert Hall (in which Davey Boy Smith won the Royal Samovar Trophy - a tea urn- in his "hometown") on YouTube. The aesthetics are sweet. |

I always thought Rebellion 1999 was the best PPV. That was the one with Rock vs HHH in a steel cage match and they teased Rock having won the title

I'm sure I meant to say Rebellion 1999 when I actually said 2000 earlier in this post. If Rebellion99 was the show where Davey Boy gave Stephanie amnesia (my God, a storyline on a UK only PPV that carried over into the "real WWE world"!) then that's the one I meant.
