Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games.
I just did a search and it seems no one made a thread for this.

Anyone looking forward to this game at all?
The overall feeling I get from most people on-line about the game seems to be a nagative one.

Do you think it will be any good or will it stink? It's being developed by Sega but Shigeru Miyamoto is, supposedly, over looking it.

I may get it. Partly because the Wii controls should help make it interesting and partly because it's Mario & Sonic. I'm not as excited for this as I am for SSBB or Mario Galaxy but it may turn out pretty good.
Wish they would give more info about the game though. Like how gameplay works.

It's being released this Xmas for DS and Wii.

I think disappointment is the general feeling. It's the first crossover and it's a licensed olympics game. Don't get me wrong, the Wii remote could prove awesome for the game itself, but just a bog standard olympic game would probably achieve the same thing.

Don't get me wrong, I think sales of this game will go through the roof. I would rather a platform game or something similar.

Yeah for a potential HUGE game for the Wii (Mario/Sonic crossover) this seems a bit... out there. Like make a crazy realistic Mario/Sonic platformer, will probably be the coolest thing ever, then just make some non-Mario/Sonic Olympic game and that'll prolly still be decent. I honestly just don't understand the reasoning behind making a Mario/Sonic Olympic game.

I would have liked a crossover platformer. I think the Olympic thing may be a way to test the water and see if the idea of Mario & Sonic works or not. If it does, we may see more and more crossovers until we eventually get the platformer.

I'm expecting the game to have a "story" which will be a case of "Anything you can do, I can do better." or something similair.

Naturally this game is adding fuel to the "Sonic in Brawl!" argument.

It could be really fun. I don't know. With Miyamoto overlooking the project, it could be pretty damn fun.

Maybe this can lead to a Mario/Sonic platformer for the DS. That would be sweet. It would require some great level design (be able to use who you want for any level).

Love the idea of a crossover, but it should have been a platform or in Smash Bros before this. Doesn't mean one or both of those can't still happen, the only thing is it's not as exciting when it does now. Oh well.

It's probably going to be like Wii Sports, lots of fun with friends but not something most people will play a lot by themselves. I was hoping it would be a platformer like rdd said. Why are Mario and Sonic at the olympics?

If I had a Wii I would buy this still, but I am disappointed because there is a lot of potential for Sonic and Mario, and they're getting put in a game that will be like Minigames, Mario Party style..?

It will probably be really fun for a party game, but it doesn't really seem much different then anything else I would expect to see on the Wii at this point. They could put the Mii avatars instead of Mario/Sonic and I would say the same thing about the concept of the game.

That's so lame. Like I mean, Sonic's entire "arsenal", his offense at all, is that he's SUPER RIDICULOUSLY BLAZING FAST. That's his only real superpower at all.


The only way I could see a Mario + Sonic Olympic game even making sense at all, is if there are multiple events, where Sonic has a decided edge in speed, and Mario in jumping and whatnot. I don't know how that'd fit into gameplay mechanics but going with their backgrounds... I dunno I still think the entire thing's a bit stupid.

Looks like it'll be a fun way to kill an hour or two. I'm just hoping it'll break the habit of all 3-D Sonic games being total garbage.

And for everyone who's going on about how Sonic should be untouchable and whatnot, he really wasn't all that super-fast in the first few games. Once he got going through loops and whatnot, yeah, he was fast, but he ain't exactly the Flash.

Sonic and the Secret Rings was decent.

And even in that game he had slow exceleration
