Hard drive dieing?
It seems that sometimes when I start my system (using Ubuntu Linux, just an FYI) it will randomly hang at the start and when it does boot it takes a lot of time to process anything and the hard drive is constantly grinding during this time. However, if I restart the system a few times (almost never is fixed on the first restart) it will work normally.
Anyone know if this would be a sign on hard drive failure? I've never had a hard drive die on me and I don't want to replace my 200GB hard drive if I don't have to. ![]() |

Grinding = bad
I would suggest you start backing up stuff just in case, but grinding is never a good sign. |

Mine does the same thing at start-up sometimes, has been for months. After it is done booting the grinding stops, doesn't boot any slower though
