So do all you Khali haters hate Andre as well?

I don't get it. Of course Khali doesn't have to do much he's a monster. He doesn't have to wrestle like Cena or Kurt Angle. Andre the Giant did less than Khali does, a lot less. Nobody complains about his suckyness, which was quit apparent in every single match he had.

I haven't watched too much of Andre the Giant, but from what I've heard, the man had charisma. Khali's name does not translate to "The Great Empty" for nothing.

It was acceptable back then, as was an Elbow drop and Leg Drops as finishes, doesn't mean it's going to get over now.

And all Khali does really is chop, isn't it? I know he is capable of more, and has taken an F-U here or there, and maybe give out a boot or two, but that's it. Andre would be hard-pressed to be as bland as that.

It's very true that the WWE waters Khali down. I've actually found myself enjoying some of his Japanese stuff. I remember seeing a match with him facing Chris Candido. That was not too bad.

If Khali was allowed to compete at his level, and had an interesting character, I might buy into him. As it stands right now, however, I really can't stand him.

Hogan was over in the 80s, too. It was a very different time and different standards apply. Compared to even brawlers like Austin (Yes, Austin used to be a phenomenal wrestler, but as a champion, he was post-injury Austin).

The bad part of that was that Giant Gonzales was a horrible wrestler, one of the worst ever.

Adding to that is the fact that he was twice the wrestler Khali is.

I think Andre contributed an awful lot to wrestling during his career, much more than Khali ever did - I think he DID have much more charisma.

Andre had charisma. Khali has none.

Andre could really move early in his career. Khali has never been able to move.

Andre, despite his later limited move set and physical hurdles still brought some psychology to the matches. Khali chops people's heads.

Andre was respect by not only the fans, but by his co-workers. Khali is the dude from an Adam Sandler movie who Vince decided would make a good superstar.

Andre was the first time someone of his size got into a ring. Khali fallows in the footsteps on Giant Gonzolez.

Andre was a Frenchmen who cut promos in a very old fashioned yet entertaining manner. Khali screams some kind of mumble growl combination.

Even in personal life/interesting stories...

Andre was a giant who drank like a mother fucker, shit on beds, and picked up cars with people he didn't like. Khali accidentally killed a wrestler.

Andre was a legend, someone who helped shape the world of wrestling, you can credit Hogan and Piper with the great expansion boom of the 80s all you want, but Vince McMahon built the platform of the WWE off of Andre's back. You ask me who's the single wrestler that shifted regional to national territories, it's Andre. Do my heart and soul a favor and never compare Andre to Khali again. Cause Andre Has A Posse...and I'm in it...

And let's not forget here, Andre was Champion for all of a couple minutes. Andre more than anything proved to be an incredible, "Oh man, I gotta go see Andre!" side attraction. And Khali, pre-World Champion run was starting to get a strange little cunt fallowing because he was fun, and as a side story goes, he could be that random big guy who growls and screams jibberish. As a World Champion, he is measured against other World Champions and is by all rights considered the brands main focus and biggest draw...and while Andre in the 70's and 80's proved he could be the biggest draw WITHOUT the title, Khali, with the Championship, is a terrible bland non-drawing champion who receives next to nothing as far as crowd reaction. No heel heat, no face heat, NOTHING. You want to compare them, Khali is taller, Khali does about as much as tail end of his career Andre did in the ring, but you're forgetting the world of wrestling can not be measured in stats.

I don't think that it's just Khali that is causing the animosity towards him, but rather the character that the WWE picked out, which is more of the same of the "this big monster is here to mow down all the fan favorites in the WWE and no one can do a fucking thing about it" guy. It's the same damn thing they do to EVERY guy his size anymore.

Thing is, from what I've read, Khali is not that bad of a wrestler and not that bad of a human being, either. He can do a really good face gimmick if they would just TRY something DIFFERENT (which will never happen).

But yeah, I just think that Khali is booked to fail by the WWE because they keep trying to sell us the exact same things that has caused RAW to get as low of ratings as they are getting.

If that were to happen with 3/4ths of the WWE's roster, the WWE would not be in the shape it's in right now.

Back then, Andre was a unique thing in wrestling due to his height, now we've seen it all before.

Your delusional.
Khali has no charisma, can't speak any english, he has no heat at all like ToVo said, no heel heat, not face heat, not even "X-Pac Heat", and nothing is worse then just have no heat at all. Maybe if this were 1984, but it's not, and no one wants to see an immobile 7 footer who has 3 moves and can yell "ARRRGGGGGHHHH", no one is going to pay to see him, no one is going to tune into Smackdown each week to watch him, no one is going to buy a PPV because he is headlining it, so Khali would make little sence to be anymore then a transition champion.

I've never agreed with Tovo more than in this thread. Well, I probably have, but he has been damn phenomenal in this.

If the WWE had Khali represent his country, and explored his desire to fund three wrestling schools in India, and how he is an honorary investigator over there; he might be a decent character. I heard he actually supports a village, as well. Instead of billing him as a monster who comes from the jungles of Punjabi (I actually don't think there are any jungles in Punjabi), why not bill him as a human being from India with a desire to represent and help his home country?

Apparently the man has a background in athletics, and can actually move around when he needs to. How about letting him do that, instead of making him move like a zombie? There is honestly potential in the guy, but as it stands right now, he is extremely boring.

Any good that can come out of Khali is best case scenario. And that is any good.

I disagree that Khali CAN'T get any of the aformentioned things because one must develop that, or learn how to do so, and he has the ability to do all of the above.

However, as I have said before, this is the WWE's fault of banning moves, doing whatever they can to make every wrestler into "yes men" to McMahon and also to make sure no one is injured, even though they do anyway. This is the same all around, but this is really hurting Khali because his whole offense is fucked over. And plus, with this hard on Vince has with this style of character is something else.

I would be pleased with what Alienoid had suggested. Have him be some sort of goodwill ambassador to his homeland.

I'm also suggesting something that I think the WWE should try again: a worked shoot with Khali coming out and, in his best English, completly slam Vince for using him the way he has had and that people want to see the REAL Khali, forcing him into a feud with Vince and whoever he wants to have do his dirty work. I wouldn't mind seeing that happening.

That is an awesome idea, darkpower. For once the "monster" is the one feeling Vince's wrath.
The more I think about it the more I want to see it.

How can we make that happen?

I say this...if you want to make comparisons...a better comparison of Andre would have been Big Show. Ignoring similar looks and even the hatred some wrestlers have against Paul, Paul could be quite entertaining at times and I actually found his matches watchable.

I have not been able to sit through a Great Kali match yet. He's annoying, he bores me in every way, and I don't give 2 fucks about his matches. I have not seen Kali bring anything to the table I've yet want to buy. When it came to Andre, he was a legend who was entertaining and could get a crowd going. When it was Big Show, he could actually work a mic and as bad of a wrestler he was, he could get me into watching a match, caring about the outcome, and even getting into some of the action.

So tell me how Big Show works, and Kali doesn't?

Big Show has a shitload more talent than Khali.

In fact, I'd put him miles ahead of Andre as well.
