SmackDown is sad.
After this weeks episode, I have realized that Batista may be one of the best workers SmackDown currently has. And trust me, that's not me being flattering to Dancin' Dave, that's me being about as insulting as I can be to WWE's true bottom of the barrel brand.

ToVo, blame that on the WWE, because everytime SmackDown has a good worker, WWE just HAS to move them to ECW or RAW for some reason. How can SD have a good show if they don't have anyone to fucking USE, Vince?

Smakdown has been horrible for months now, long before it was Dancin' Dave and Khali holding it down, Smackdown ratings must be sad.

Also, I found the Ric Flair segment with Cherry to be funny at first, but when Batista and Flair hugged and went into the locker room, I found it to be a little homoish

I think Smackdown is doing a good job for the talent it has. They got fucking ass-raped by the draft it wasn't funny. But they're still managing to keep their heads above water and produce a fun, entertaining wrestling show. Apart from Khali as Champ, dear lord.

The segment with MVP and Matt Hardy was solid.
I liked how he had that little black bag with the tape, the ball, and the chalk. A Friend: What's that MVP is carrying? Me: Matt Hardy. |

When Rey and Taker return soon I think someone will have to go heel because the face lineup would be
Batista Taker Rey Kane Flair Hardy While the Heel lineup is Khali MVP Finlay Masters Chavo |

One last hurrah on the wrestling forum?
Ok - I know I've said it before and I'll probably say it again in a few years, but these could be my last TEN (10) posts on the wrestling forum...ever. I haven't been a WWE regular viewers for a number of years now, but I'll try and throw my $0.02 here.
As I discussed with The CyNick a few years ago, Smackdown's BIGGEST problem is that it's in a perpetual state of a "work in progress." In other words, Smackdown never gets to be a "finished product of beauty", because all/most of their top talent is ultimately moved to RAW (i.e. Carlitto, Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Chris Benoit, Booker T, etc., etc., etc.). Just when a Smackdown star is on the verge of becoming huge, he gets moved to RAW. Period. Smackdown basically becomes a place for people to go if there's "no place to go" on RAW (i.e. Edge). By creating a 3rd show (ECW), the WWE have hurt Smackdown's depth even moreso. When you try and add a 3rd show like the WWE has.....management has to ask itself the following: "Does adding this 3rd show make the WWE better?.....or does it just hurt the depth of the other 2 shows?" In this case, I think the answer is pretty obvious. Another thing that COMPLETELY boggles my mind, is how the WWE never capitalized on John Cena vs. Dave Batista. I mean seriously, WTF? Anyway, that's my $0.02 for now. |

They also dropped the ball with Christian on Smackdown. He could have been a ME and eventually World Champ on the brand.

Want to know what the WWE's BIGGEST problem has been the last 6 years in my opinion? The WWE are too fixated on the old (and outdated) idea of faces and heels. The WWE, for the past 6 years, keeps making mistakes with their (heelish) characters that are being cheered. Instead of "going with that flow", they deliberately convert them into boring faces....ones of which kiss the fans asses....and the fans themselves don't like it. Am I saying that faces and heels should not exist? No...I am not saying that at all. What I am saying however, is that fans appreciate solid CHARACTERS more than if someone is a "heel" or a "face." The fans don't WANT to be told who to cheer for. The fans will cheer whoever has the COOLEST character. It's the same reason why the fans cheered Austin during his feud with Brett. It's the same reason why The Rock became such a huge face back in 1999. It's the same reason why Lesnar and Orton were cheered so heavily during Summerslam in 2002 and 2004 respectively. LET THE FANS REACT TO THE CHARACTER HOW THEY WANT TO REACT. Orton and Lesnar for instance, could have been HUUUGE faces down the road....had the WWE simply kept their patience. Instead, both made premature face turns. In 2004 when Guerrero won the WWE title.....they deviated from his "lie, cheat, steal" gimmick and tried to give him a more deeper and 'family values' side. When Guerrero lost his title to JBL, his career was in decline. The WWE screwed up here as well. When Cena became popular.....he stopped rapping. He stopped being original. All of his promos became scripted. ![]() In 2005 when HBK (heel) fought Hogan, HBK received huge FACE like reactions.....because his character was so awesome. What did the WWE do? After Summerslam, they turned him into his old stale and boring character. ![]() The most obvious example of the WWE shitting the bed? Anytime they tried to push Angle as a face (deliberately). Notice how most of Angle's LOUDEST face pops was when he was a heel? (or when he had JUST turned face and the fans were simply reacting to him based on his recent previous character). As soon as Angle "tried" to act like a face and started being "nice", his pops became lukewarm. Had the WWE simply kept his heelish character, he would have been cheered like a face. Bottom line? The WWE, for the past 6 years, keeps making mistakes with their (heelish) characters that are being cheered. Instead of "going with that flow", they deliberately convert them into boring faces....ones of which kiss the fans asses....and the fans themselves don't like it. |

To be fair, Cena stopped rapping shortly after the Janet JAckson incident, and was probably in part, in response to the FCC cracking down on EVERYONE.
Otherwise, and even with Cena, I agree. |

Having said that, I still think.. A) Smackdown is destined to be doomed no matter (since all/most of the emerging talent on Smackdown ending up being shipped to RAW). B) If the WWE weren't so "anal" as to who should be 'face' and 'heel' and instead focused on CHARACTER MAXIMIZATION, ratings would still be almost as high as they were between 98-00 (yes folks..you read that right). C) The existence of ECW hurts the depth of both Smackdown and RAW. What's the point of giving CM Punk a "huge push!" on ECW when hardly anyone ever watches? I haven't made a "Lets re-unite the WWE rosters" post since 2004......but man.....I'm so fuckin' tempted right now. ![]() |

I agree. Not rapping doesn't hurt nearly as much as him sucking up to the fans.

Even The Rock started to slowly and steadily lose his popularity once he started to suck up to the fans. The Rock was at the PEAK of his popularity in late 99' to early/mid 2000 when he DIDN"T suck up to the fans (i.e. he was technically a face, but still acted like a massive prick!). Interestingly enough, The Rock almost COMPLETELY regained his popularity during his heel run in 2003. Same thing as Austin in 98'. Austin, though technically a face, still acted like a massive prick. I think this is one reason why Undertaker has always been one of the most successful characters for the WWE. Whether he's a face or he's a heel....Taker's character stays constant. Taker NEVER sucks up to the fans as a face (heck....he even murdered Paul Bearer a few years ago! ![]() When Batista initially turned face, that's another reason why he was successful. His lack of mic skills actually worked to his advantage! (Batista didn't even have the ability to suck up to the fans ![]() |

SmackDown! has been pretty shit since they were raped in the draft, but Batista is far from the best worker on the brand. He'd be lucky if he made the better half of the roster in term of actual ability. He's over like fucking, though.
Smackers has got two major babyface opportunities in front of them, in Batista and Matt Hardy. When Hardy returned in 2005, he was like the biggest face in the company. This ties in with what Heyman said about faces kissing ass. In his return promo, Matt should have told Vince to go fuck himself for firing him in the first place, but instead thanked Vince for his job back, and thanked the fans for twisting his arm. It was bullshit. Anyway, SmackDown! has enough fuel to get to keep themselves going for a time. They should be fine when Edge and Rey Mysterio are back. It's more the writing, more specifically the style of writing, that is letting SmackDown! down at present. |

That's the most patently stupid thing you've said all week. And that's really saying something. Yes, I figured out they were injured. That has nothing to do with my statement. So...Your complete need to kill yourself before you breed aside, why are Taker and Edge on Smackdown if they're not shite workers? After all, it was YOUR words that said that they move workers to Raw or ECW....You can't say they haven't moved because they're injured...Edge barely got over there when he was hurt. So you really have no way to answer. Not without looking like a dumb cunt. |

What YOU said was completly different from what your saying you said now. You said that they now have Edge and Taker, when they are injured. As if to say the SD talent drought is negated because they have them when they got injured. And even if they weren't, look at the roster now compared to Raw's or ECW's. And you're sudden threat about thinking I should go kill myself is about the most backstabbing thing I've seen you say to me. Seriously, even when I say "stupid shit", you tend to be able to back me up, but it seems like lately, that's all you've been doing, trying to find where I'm posting to do whatever you can to make me look like this "dumb cunt", as you put it. Whatever in the fucking hell did I ever do to you? Are you still bitter about that fucking Transformers thread or that shit in the movies forum about the 1-8-08 bullshit?
