Why does Vince have such a hard on for multi-generational stars now?
What is up with that, I remember a time when he either didn't give a shit or gave multi-generational wrestlers crappy gimmicks to piss their parents off, or ignored it out right. While now a days they push Ortons and Rhodes and Fatus down our throat. While I have no problem with Cody, it is kinda sad they couldn't do the same for Dustin, and I'm an Umaga mark, so again I don't mean to bash him. I don't even blame Orton for taking adventage of it, I would if I was a wrestling family. It just seems odd.

He's remebering the WWF in it's heyday and thinks the offspring will draw the crowds like their folks before them. I reckon.
What he needs is stables, thats what made wrestling great, so a stable with the offspring wouldn't be a bad idea, they could call it the new breed |

Vince kinda does look out for people who have treated him well. And he also knows more often than not that kids of previous generation stars know what it takes to cut it.

because older fans can then relate to the young guys, and young fans will respect the history. Its an easy gimmick and character to introduce, and if your dad was worth anything, can get you over right away. I guarantee you Steve Austin Jr could show up and would that second be the most over star on the show.

It's not like the Rock wasn't a draw. Or Bret Hart. Or Kerry Von Erich (in Texas). Or Barry Windham (in Florida). Or Jeff Jarrett (bad example). ![]() Or J.C. Ice (in Tennessee, as 1/2 of PG 13) Or Rey Misterio Or Jake Roberts. Need I go on? |

Fom hearing people's shoots, i understand that if your dad was in the biz, you tend to pick things up quite quickly as you would be around it all the time.

I have a theory on this.
I think it may have something to do with the lack of really talented young stars who can draw like the stars of yesteryear. By using the children/relatives of other established stars, the youngsters are already ahead in the game of popularity just by fact of name recognition. Also, the newer talents from wrestling families are generally more talented at the onset of their careers than someone who has no family background in wrestling. By using these stars, less time has to be spent developing their talents in the indies and they can be moved up sooner, rather than later, as they already have a great deal more knowledge of the business than even alot of the people who have been in the game for years. It makes complete sense, when you think about it. Think about it like this, using Teddy Hart as an example. When he moves up to the WWE, he will get HUGE pops simply because of who he is. The WWE will not have to spend years building his rep up through gimmicks and filler matches; he will automatically have a fan base and drawing power. It is a win-win for the wrestler and McMahon; the wrestler gets fame from the get-go instead of ahving to work his ass off to earn it, and McMahon gets a star who can draw with little-to-no investment beforehand. |

It ain't about how you get there, it's about what you do when you get there, and most of the second generation stars today aren't doing anything when they get there.

as 1/2 of PG 13, they were probably #3 all-time for regular Memphis Tag Teams (not counting the Road Warriors or the 'Birds. I'm putting them behind Lawler and Dundee and the Masked Assassins.) They were jokes when they were rapping the entrance theme to the Nation of Domination. I figured that Jamie Dundee was a better example than, say, Greg Gagne or David Flair. My memory banks on drawing Second Generation stars was admittedly blank at that point. I didn't know Juvi was second generation. I don't know how I missed any of those you mentioned. Especially Eddie or Curt. *Turns in Smark Membership Card.* |
