Bret Hart,Randy savage, and Ric Flair Title changes

ok here goes i've been trying to get this question answered on 1wrestling with no joy so ...........................

in 1992 when randy dropped the title to flair and then flair dropped it to bret hart what was going on? it seemed like a bit of a rushed thing and it was'nt on ppv. What i'm thinking is that savage did'nt want to job to bret so they used flair as a transition between the two.

What are your thoughts

Maybe they knew that Flair's contact was going to expire soon and he was going to leave and go back to WCW and wanted to give Bret a push. That would be my theory

They needed a new babyface star who wasn't on steroids and Bret Hart's name fit the bill.

That's partly right. Savage's knee finally gave out on him. It had been bothering him for a while. They made the change to Flair, and then Flair decided he wanted to go back to WCW. The WWF needed a new champion, and Hart was chosen. The reason it happened so fast was because they wanted Bret to win the belt in front of his home fans. Hart won the World Title on the last canadian show before Flair was to leave.

I'd have to say Flair has respect for Hart and dropped the title to Bret cause they were in Canada. Back then Wrestling wasn't as big and they didn't have too many televised / ppv events over in Canada so Flair dropped the title to him in Saskatoon.

Flair was around for 5 months after he lost the title so there was no rush to get the belt off him. He didn't even ask to leave until January. It's obvious Savage was on juice but even then, they needed a new babyface champion. Savage was already champ for most of that year.

I think part of the reason they put the title back on Flair was so that Bret had a heel to beat. If you recall back then they usually didn't do the babyface to babyface title switches, there was almost always a heel transition champion.

Flair was getting the belt regardless. That was decided prior to Summerslam at Wembley while Bret Hart wasn't really being thought about as World champ at that time but I'd certainly agree with the transition arguement.

A little info on the Flair side of the drop to Hart. Yeah Flair wanted to go back to WCW but not as WWF Champ of course. Flair would have been champ longer if he didn't have an inner ear problem which was effecting him greatly so he also choose to drop it in Sakatoon.
