ECW
...needs to merge with either of the wwe rosters with respect to the ratings they are getting. They are working with 19 superstars which include the Divas and the announcers. They can either merge it with Raw and get better ratings or Smackdown! can very well use 2 World Champions. Post in your views.

My thoughts:
Send the following to RAW: John Morrison, Miz + Extreme Expose, Kevin Thorn, Mike Knox. Send the following to SD: CM Punk, Elijah Burke, Stevie Richards, Matt Striker. Wish the following the best in their future endevours: Balls Mahony, Boogyman, Big Daddy V, Tommy Dreamer, Nunzio. Have CM Punk face Batista in a title unification match and then ditch the ECW title. |

I agree except for Boogeyman. He is a star. And Tommy Dreamer is the man you cant just toss him out for no reason.

Dreamer's a jobber kept around for nostalgia. Boogy is great in his gimmick, but isn't much to watch in the ring.

I reckon Boogeyman is the top wrestler in ECW right now, in all aspects. Except for the fact he doesn't have the title.

I don't think it is urgent to scrap ECW, but assuming they did:
Have Jim Ross replaced by Joey Styles again. It won't happen, but Styles is the best play-by-play man in the business, and he deserves the spot. Also get rid of Jerry Lawler, and promote JBL to RAW, while Tazz takes Layfield's place on SmackDown!. Big Daddy V is a hard one, but apparently there are plans to move him to SmackDown!, so I guess they could just do that. The Boogeyman should definitely be on RAW, in my opinion. He's pure entertainment, without much substance, which seems to fit RAW a lot better than SmackDown!. They also have Heat, and a Boogeyman squash could fill up that show a bit each week. Elijah Burke can really fit in anywhere, but I'd move him to SmackDown!, just so he doesn't get lost in the shuffle on RAW. CM Punk also fits both brands, but I think working in SmackDown!'s United States division, before moving up to the main event, is the most consistent way to ensure he grows as needed. Tommy Dreamer could go back to his backstage role, however a program where he is the fish out of water on RAW could be entertaining. Dreamer is a much sounder wrestler than The Sandman, so I could see him having a similar place on their roster, even going as far as winning the Intercontinental Championship. Mike Knox is tricky, because I don't even know if they have plans for him. If they keep him: RAW; but another stint in the developmentals may not hurt. I'd give him some chance to work OK matches on Heat, and see if they find something for him. Balls Mahoney was someone I would have released a few weeks ago, but right now he is fucking over. Stick him on RAW in the mid-card. Much like Tommy Dreamer, he could play an ECW Original in a non-ECW environment, and I think it would work. Maybe even stick him in a team with Dreamer? The Miz fits SmackDown! more than RAW, in my opinion, but he does seem to be stepping on the toes of MVP's character over there. I think SD! is big enough for the both of them, however. Mizanin continues to grow, and SmackDown! could use the ladies. Nunzio to SmackDown! is an easy one. Use him a credible force in the cruiserweight division. Just change his name back to "Little Guido," which actually allows him to connect with the crowds at times. Stevie Richards is another SmackDown! move, I think. He has a lot to offer the mid-card. He could also fit in on RAW, I guess, but something just feels right about SmackDown! and Stevie. Matt Striker to SmackDown! also makes sense to me, as he does have a lot of potential, but still needs to grow. I'm not sure if Striker passes as a cruiserweight, but he could theoretically perform in that division. He's got some great promo skills, and should probably stick with Big Daddy V. Kevin Thorn is the only guy left, and I'd have to suggest RAW for the guy, seeing as he is all gimmick. SmackDown! would work, and I could actually get into a Kane or Undertaker vs. Thorn feud, however. Having him start on RAW and racking up a few Intercontinental Title victories might be better for him in the long run, though. |

Wouldn't it make more sense to split up the two rosters into ECW and WWE and have Smackdown's roster be assimilated into Raw's roster? No clue how the schedules would work out, but having a WWE and an ECW seems more sensical than having three programs or having one Raw and one Smackdown/ECW.

Yeah that would probably be a better option for Vince, but I think ECW just needs a couple of big names, big drawers and progress into a 2 hr time slot and they will be all good. Atm thou, in my opinion ECW is the best brand out of all three.

Wouldnt it be a better idea to keep ECW as the best show in the WWE

Don't you guys remember WWF Heat and WCW Saturday Night? The shows where the lower tier wrestled regularly every week; hardly ever showing up on RAW is WAR or Nitro? ECW on Sci-Fi is the new Heat, only pumped up on steroids and pimped out with its own title belt.
In short, it's doing it's part in giving these guys airtime every week. I bet Vince isn't happy that it's now gotten equal ratings with Impact though. |
