Seriously, I don't see how this WOULDN'T build up Rhodes. Holly is working a gimmick that is the closest to how he really is: wanting people to pay their dues and earn respect. Psychology-wise, it'd also be a different team to feud with for Cade and Murdoch, as they've been taking on the likes of the Hardyz and Londrick. Cryme Tyme could have been close, but they were idiots backstage.

The matches could be fun, because Cade and Murdoch won't take Holly's shit, if he gives them any. Same time though, they seem pretty much respected by the boys.

It's not completely awful, but to be honest, I don't want to see it. Cody Rhodes was doing fine as the guy who helps out John Cena. There are programs sitting there with Santino Marella, Randy Orton and even William Regal (assuming the WWE doesn't drop the Cena vs. Regal tension). I can't help but feel this is kind of a step backwards and momentum in a completely different direction.

I liked Hardcore Holly being the tough mentor to Charlie Haas on SmackDown!. In fact, I'd rather they did that again, and have Holly approach Haas about becoming his student, and having Shelton get jealous. This can lead to Hardcore Holly vs. Shelton Benjamin, Hardcore Holly vs. Charlie Haas and eventually The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes (I am against the idea of a long-term team, however). Holly should be a face, and he should give the rub to Rhodes, but I think a permanent duo is kind of a pointless venture.

This is just the mark in me talking, but I'd love to see Hardcore Holly resume teaming with Val Venis. Have Holly remind Venis that he's a loser, and he needs to start winning again, and just have them chop the fuck out of people. HH & VV also have a fair bit in common. Both are veterans, who have never reacher their full potential; both are solid in-ring competitors; Val Venis is a pornstar, and "Hardcore" Holly sounds like he is; both used to race vehicles. I'd much prefer The Big Valbowski & The Big Shot teaming at this point in time.

I like "Londrick", can't stand Bobcore and think that Rhodes needs a few months in the undercard to work the kinks out of his style/develop a character.

The tag team scene should be building towards The Redneck Wrecking Crew vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team. There is money in that match.

If the WWE cared about money, though, instead of what we've seen these past two weeks, Cade & Murdoch would have defeated Triple H in that handicap match, and then beaten The Game down with Carlito. London & Kendrick would have then made the save, and gotten a boost by earning the respect and attention of Triple H. Paul London & Brian Kendrick would then team with Triple H the following week (instead of that silly handicap cage match), to take on Carlito and the World Tag Team Champions, where Triple H could have gotten his win back, without making Cade, Murdoch & Carlito look ridiculous in the process. Then with another RAW to go before No Mercy, have Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas team with Carlito to take on Triple H, Paul London & Brian Kendrick. This time the heels get the victory when Cade & Murdoch interfere. This leads to Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick for the World Tag Team Championship (with Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin getting involved, and causing the match to go to a double disqualification), and Triple H faces Carlito in a Steel Cage Match, which Carlito actually wins when Umaga returns, slams the door on Triple H's face, and allows Carlito to climb over the top, and Umaga gets some revenge on Triple H.

This sets up Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick in a match where the fans vote on the stipulation (Elimination Rules, Tornado Tag or TLC...three guesses what people would vote for) and Carlito & Umaga vs. Triple H & a partner of the fans' choosing.

I went on that little tirade because the WWE's handling of the tag team scene has been pure shit recently, so I don't expect this Holly/Rhodes thing to be handled delicately in the slightest.

You're entitled to not be entertained by London & Kendrick, I guess, but I do find their matches always contain more life than pretty much on an entire WWE broadcast.

After the way they got treated by Triple H, however, there was a part of me that just wanted to see Carlito, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Paul London & Brian Kendrick get released by the WWE. Cade & Murdoch could do great things in TNA, as could Carlito. Paul London & Brian Kendrick in ROH feuding with The Briscoe Brothers is an amazing thought.

Ah now how they get treated is different. I think my disinterest in Londrick stems from how they are booked. The best match I remember seeing them in was the multi-tag TLC match at Armageddon last year, that was good shit.

Almost every person that was moved to Raw in the draft has either been burried by Triple H, is in line to be burried by Triple H, or has been released. I am actually a Trips fan but burrying the future stars of tomorrow doesn't help anyone.

If they're going to do this, they need to make Holly into Rhodes' "reluctant mentor." Have him beat Rhodes a few more times, and then have Rhodes start showing up at ringside taking notes. It pisses Holly off until he asks Rhodes what he's doing, at which point Rhodes tells him he's taking notes to become a better wrestler. When Holly asks if he thinks he can beat him if he learns his style, Rhodes says "no, but maybe I can learn what's wrong with mine." They then become like Al Snow and Steve Blackman, except with less comedy.

Either that or, during a rematch, Cody comes close to beating Holly. He loses, but he comes close. A week or so down the line, Cody gets attacked by Cade and Murdoch during a match. Out comes Holly to make the save. A Backstage Interview can have Bob announce that Cody earned his respect, and it's time to beat some respect into the Redneck Wrecking Crew.
