Leicester City latest team to be accused assault
Spanish police have confirmed that nine Leicester players have been arrested in relation to allegations of sexual assault against three women.
The Foxes do not have a game this weekend and had been taking a sunshine break in La Manga to prepare for a final push at Premiership survival. One of the players was released on bail but the others remain in custody. The Civil Governor's office in Murcia confirmed that the players were charged with "sexual aggression". A statement by the Governor's office said: "The nine players were arrested after three German women complained to police at Alicante airport - as the women were about to fly home to Germany." It is believed that the women are alleging that their hotel rooms at the La Manga Club were broken into and they were then assaulted. The rest of the Leicester squad have flown home but it is understood that chief executive Tim Davies has flown out to Spain to join manager Micky Adams, who has remained in the country. Leicester issued a club statement, which said: ""The club is aware that a number of players have been interviewed by Spanish police as a result of alleged incidents which took place during a club training camp in Spain. "The club is co-operating fully with the authorities in their investigations but, as these investigations are still ongoing, is not in a position to make any further comment at this stage." Just gotta wait for 100% proof, if they are guilty they are a bunch of bastards who deserve to rot in prison for a few years, if they are innocent, its a shame that football keeps being accused of things that aren't true.
We'll have to see |

These type's of story, true or untrue, will dog the beloved game forever as long as there's a newspaper/magazine willing to pay for the "EXCLUSIVE" story and the accusers are never brought to justice once the charges are dropped.
A quick buck, I think is the term i would use |

Seriously the players need to start behaving properly, they're obviously doing things wrong on the pitch but this is just amazing, personally i would sack all found guilty and if that doesn't happen i will no longer hate Dennis Wise. I don't truthfully beleive it because the club hasn't got any well-known thugs in the game and i should think that with most of the players being around 30 or over, that they wouldn't be so braindead. Also it could be a misunderstanding due to the languages or something,i think that only Freund could speak German. |

Yeah I reckon the best thing to do is ignore it till anything becomes of it, it's all too common now, that someone is acused of something because they are footballers.

Ok,Paul Dickov was one of four players alleged to have performed the assault, according to ITV news.Frank Sinclair was involved and i saw pictures of Keith Gillespie,James Scowcroft and maybe Nikos Dabizas being led to a police van,but i'm not sure what role they're supposed to have had.
Only sure on Matt Elliott and Danny Coyne, who have been arrested on suspicion of the Spanish crime of "not aiding someone in need". |

Six Leicester City players have been detained following an allegation of sexual assault by three women, although two other players have now been released. Sky Sports News have confirmed that the six players who will remain in custody on Thursday night are Paul Dickov, Matt Elliott, Lilian Nalis, Frank Sinclair, Keith Gillespie and James Scowcroft. Four of the group have been accused of sexual assault and breaking and entering, one of assault and breaking and entering and one of breaking and entering and leaving a crime scene without offering assistance. None of the six have yet been charged, but all will remain in custody overnight before appearing in court again on Friday morning at 8.30am (GMT). Two further players, Danny Coyne and Nikos Dabizas, have now been 'provisionally released', but will continue to be investigated along with Steffen Freund who was also released earlier on Thursday. Leicester manager Mickey Adams and chief executive Tim Davies broke the news to the media in Cartagena and will continue to stay in Spain while the case is investigated. Davies has confirmed that every player involved in the matter has denied all of the allegations made. |

Nicked from Sky:
Leicester City's chief operating officer Paul Mace has updated the current situation regarding the La Manga controversy at a press conference on Friday morning. Mace insists the Premiership outfit will not attempt to "whitewash" the issue but stressed the players involved have all pleaded their innocence to all charges of criminal wrongdoing at the Spanish resort. "Obviously it's a regrettable episode for Leicester City and possibly for football in general," he stated. "It is going to cause us some damage. We need to deal with that in the best way we can. "It is a cause for serious concern." Mace did open the briefing by admitting it was difficult to make any detailed comment while the Spanish authorities are undertaking their investigations into the alleged incidents, but felt compelled to respond to the media outcry to the allegations of sexual assault against three German women. "I'd like to stress we view this situation with utmost seriousness," Mace affirmed. "The club has, and will, be conducting a full internal investigation into the issue alongside and not in conflict with the investigations by the Spanish authorities. "We take it extremely seriously. The club has taken many strides in recent years to establish ourselves at the forefront of community relations in this community and national football as a whole and realise this is damaging to us. "We have a duty of care and responsibility to the club and our players. We have been in regular contact with the players over the past 48 hours. "They want to stress that they protest their innocence most strongly and vigorously on all counts of criminal accusations made against them in the past 24 hours. We've welcomed the news that three of the nine players helping the Spanish police with their enquiries were effectively cleared of the principle charges levelled against them. "Our thoughts are with the six players detained overnight by the authorities. Tim Davies, our chief executive and Micky Adams are in Spain at the moment. "Those players will be again appearing before a Spanish judge today to decide whether the accusations mean the players have a case to answer. In the short term, we wish to bring those nine players home as quickly as practically possible and concentrate on getting back to football and our game with Birmingham a week on Saturday. "It's certainly not a good position for us at this moment in time and we won't shy away from that. "We accept people querying the wisdom of going back out to La Manga but it's the premier sporting facility of its kind in Europe. We were welcomed back with open arms and, as far as we were concerned, it's a business trip. "It was a decision made for footballing reasons but I appreciate a lot of people are drawing analogies and comparisons to what happened when we last visited La Manga four years ago." The six players still detained in Spain are Paul Dickov, Matt Elliott, Lilian Nalis, Frank Sinclair, Keith Gillespie and James Scowcroft. Alan Cork is taking training with the rest of the players but there is clearly a cloud hovering over the East Midlands club at the moment. City were involved in another incident at La Manga four years ago when a fire extinguisher was allegedly set off by former Fox Stan Collymore. |

The thing is this time, the three women whom were Allegedly attacked were German, and unless they had a huge interest in English football, they would not have known that these men were players, for a top club. So they would have had no reason to think the accusation's would prove profitable if untrue.
PR, is right though, something just feels differnt with how this one's being handled. |
