The *BDCA* Look at why Jericho's return sucks from a story line point of view.
Yes, I've been a big critic of this whole Save_Us crap. And here I am critising it some more. From a story line point of view, it makes no sense. Last we saw Jericho, 2 years ago, he got fired for not winning the title from Cena. Now he is back demanding a title shot against Orton. How does he have any claim to be #1 condender? I'm not sure if Orton and Jericho even have a match history together. And since Jericho has been back, he has only won a single match against Santino who is regularly getting beaten up by non-active has-beens. That proves Jericho is on par with has-beens not #1 contender.

Now, if Jericho started getting some high profile wins, and kepts a slow burning fued with Orton ducking and no-acknowledging him that would be cool.

BTW, I think Jeff Hardy should be the #1 contender right now. He has been on a role, he was the one the won the traditional Suvivor Series match. He is the IC champion and has been for a while now. Plus he is more over than Jericho is. Hardy should have a quick series with Orton while Jericho is racking up wins and have show down at like Mainia or something to that effect. Not just coming down on day 1 after not doing anything for 2 years and before that losing a bunch.

I dunno, figuring the fact that Raw's jobbing these days, a guy who was jobbed out in a title match probably should be able to walk in off the street, fanfare or no, and demand a title match.

Yeah, it is pretty bad when Smackdown's or TNA's storyline make more sense than Raw.

It's weird the way they are going about it, especially going into the Rumble. One might assume that they would hold Jericho off from the title match until Mania, with Regal/Coach/McMahon saying he has to earn his title shot since he's been inactive for 2 years. Thus, he'd win a string of matches, win the Rumble and 'earn' his title shot. It seems to be a waste to just give him the match right off the bat at Armageddon.


This is not exactly on topic but it also puts an interesting spin on the Rumble. Right now, my top 3 to win the Rumble would be Jericho, Jeff Hardy, or Flair, but with Jericho getting his shot this soon, I'm not sure where things will go.

Santino has faced the likes of Chris Masters, Umaga, Ron Simmons, The Sandman, and Stone Cold. Now, with the exception of Stone Cold, none of those men have done anything near what Chris Jericho has done in his career.

He's a former WWE/F and WCW World Champion, as well as the first ever Undisputed Champion (despite how shitty the reign was). He's been popular in the world of Pro Wrestling for 10 years now, and his name is one that people respect and recognize.

He left wrestling because he was burned out. He's recharged himself and is now making his return. With the state of wrestling today, all of the injuries, the Benoit-murder drama, the shittyness of John Cena's title run, the poor writing spanning all 3 shows, it makes sense for an energetic showman like Chris Jericho to want to "save us" by taking the spotlight. And there is no other spotlight than the WWE Championship on Monday Night RAW.



Now, I realize that the return wasn't on par with, say, the heel turn of Hulk Hogan and the formation of the nWo, but FFS, he's been back for a full 2 hours and 15 minutes now. There's still time for greatness.

Another reason why Save.us doesn't make sense: the save.us.222 campaign started way before Orton was champ, so unless Jericho looked into the future and knew Cena would be injured and have to vacate to Orton who would lose it to Trips only to win it back from Trips the same night and still retain against HBK, how could he possibly have known whom he would be saving us from????

Yeah that is another thing. Jericho should be returning as a heel. Thinking he is saving us from the current shitty state of wrestling in general or soemthing.

Also, from a personal point of view, I don't understand this how this whole codebreaker crap is any different from his rockstar gimmick.

About that spot with Santino last night: what was Jericho doing when Santino was beating up the King? Shouldn't the "savior" have helped him out a bit? I did like the match and thought Jericho looked great, and the spot afterwards with the King and Jericho calling it was great, but was Jericho just watching the beat down or what?

I think it makes perfect sense. He was gone for two years, became a "celebrity" by showing up on random VH1 specials, saw what it was like to have a career outside of wrestling. Now that he is back, he feels like it is his right to be WWE champion, especially now that he is the closest thing to The Rock that they have now. The whole "save us" thing wasn't pointed at Randy Orton originally, but since he is the champion and Chris Jericho wants the belt, he is directing all of that promotional frustration at Orton in attempt to get him in a match.

As big of a Jericho mark as I am (easily one of my favorites of all time), I'm going to agree that a title match at Armageddon is blowing the load way too early on that title match. Have Jericho be a thorn in Orton's side, with Orton still refusing a title shot, for at least another month or two, have him win the rumble, and then another 2 month lead to WM. (And no cop-out "non title" 1 on 1 matches before then).

In a perfect world, though, HBK would be taking the title from Orton at Armageddon, and then said storyline proceeds as shown above

BTW I posted this in the RAW thread.

That crowd there last night was for Flair and Flair only. When Jericho came out, he had no reaction whatsoever. When Orton came out, he had no reaction whatsoever. It was terrible

Cena's been pretty awesome in the past. I don't care for anything past him holding a world belt, mind, but he's had some solid matches in the past, has proven that he can be over with the fans, and been great on the mic, even if the gay jokes and star wars refs were kinda tiresome (You're not Kevin Smith, Cena).
