So, is there a second season (Or I guess the Brits call it Series) of "Torchwood?"
I wasn't really overly impressed with the first season, but I was wondering if another was coming. I like the Jack Harkness character, and since the "Woe is me" subplot seems to have finished at the end of the end of the last season of Doctor Who, I'd be interested in seeing a less mopey Harkness.

Never gotten into Doctor Who or this spin off for some reason, I'm a fairly big trekkie/star wars nut and I 'get' almost all of the jokes and references in Futurama but for some reason I just cannot stomach Docker Who/Twood...Convert me

I'm not sure how to convert you. Specially since, before the Eccleston episodes, I never watched it.
And Torchwood isn't all that great so far. Last couple of episodes showed potential, but really. I love the new Doctor Who shit, but I have no idea how I would particularly sell it. It's pretty cool, pretty imaginative, pretty fun. Just watched Dave Tennant charge through a window on a horse to save Louis the Fourteenth's mistress from clockwork machines who wanted her brain. Can't get much better than that. It's not Star Trek, though. Thank God for that. I think it's cool that in something like 40 years, neither the theme of the show of the recurring bad guys have changed much. Timeless. |

Second series is being shown in January - apparently going to be on BBC America as well.
I was never really convinced by Torchwood, it had far more bad or mediocre episodes than it did good ones, so hopefully this series might be a little better. Just glad they've got P.J. Hammond (creator of Sapphire and Steel and writer of series 1's "Small Worlds", one of the better episodes) coming back to do another one. Not quite sure what Martha Jones being in 3 episodes is going to be like though... |

I love Dr Who. It's amazing. I only got into during the last series and have since watched all the new ones. David Tennant is fantastic as the doctor.
Torchwood, I watched, Not overly impressed. I still watched them all though so.... I dunno what it is about torchwood.....something is missing, it doesn't seem to "click". Hopefully they will improve with the second series though. ct2k you need to watch a few episodes....you will become hooked. |

Not to mention, the lack of the sense of adventure in the Doctor Who series. Torchwood was not just primarily focused around Cardiff, but seemed to take little interest in the rest of the world. Doctor Who gets alien invasions, Torchwood gets sheepfuckers. Hardly seems fair. Though I've got to say one complaint I have with the Doctor Who series is that they keep bringing in the last Dalek/Daleks, only to wipe them all out. Granted, this last time, they didn't do it, but they killed off the "last" Daleks like four times over the course of three seasons. But seeing as how that's really my only complaint.... ct2k, I'd recommend trying out some of the new episodes. Personal picks would include "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances," Which are parts 1 and 2 respectively; "The Christmas Invasion," Which is the first real appearance of David Tennant (He appears at the end of the last episode of the prior season, and there's a five minute special that bridges the two....); and "The Girl in the Fireplace." Some of my personal favorites. Not quite a complete list, but I tried to avoid doing several where you had to watch two episodes or more to follow an arc. These are all from seasons 1 and 2 of the "new" series, which is really considered seasons 27+ of Doctor Who in general, but I don't know shit about them beyond these three seasons. |

Torchwood is set and filmed right by where I work. A fair bit of Doctor Who as well. The episode of Doctor Who where that guy makes himself young was filmed in the building. The hospital they sent into space was Swansea's Singleton Hospital (not London like they claimed..) and the interior was the University.
Anyway, there is a second series being filmed apparently, though I can't say I've seen it happening. Not sure when it is due to broadcast though. |

Sadly, Torchwood will never reach its potential. Luckily its existence is part of the deal to keep Russell T Davies involved with Dr Who.
Apparently, Alan Dale & Spike from Buffy are to appear as guest stars in the upcoming season. Alan Dale appearing should guarantee at least one good episode next season. Freema Agyeman is to appear in three episodes of TW before returning to Dr Who to be one of three companions-at-once that the Doctor will have in the second half of the next season of DW. |

But yeah, he was pretty fucking amazing as The Master. Shame it ended so quickly and like a damp squib. Everyone think 'Doctor' at the same time eh? ![]() |

Don't worry, the Master will be back. Probably. But come on, the "Think Doctor" thing was pretty damn cool. |

Out of the second half of the season, that bit ruined it all for me. Just thought it was almost an easy way out. The story of the journey was pretty cool, but I could never quite get how thinking Doctor could reverse the aging that The Master had caused and make The Doctor float around. They saved it with the Face Of Boe revelation at the end though. 'Utopia', if I'm honest, is one of my favourite episodes of Sci-Fi ever. Perfect episode of TV. |

The face of Boe bit was awesome.
I thought the idea of building up the Doctor and using the whole mind connection bit to be brilliant. |

I too enjoyed it. The face of Boe revelation was a nice touch....apart from the fact that I now know Boe has sucked a cock or two in his time

The first episode of the new series is availiable via torrents. I downloaded it last night, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
I enjoyed the first series, it was a little bit hit and miss, but over all it was pretty good. Also the wife has a thing for John Barrowman: ![]() |

Watched Ep1 last night.
Really good, i like some of the humour in Torchwood....it's a bit smutty. I sometimes feel it's trying too hard to be cool and edgey though. Still an entertaining way to spend an hour. James Masters > Any other guest star they will ever get. |

Barrowman's fairly hot. He plays the character perfectly, to boot.
Also, I don't think I mentioned it when recommending episodes before, but Blink is probably my favorite episode of Series Three of Doctor Who. It has almost none of the Doctor and Martha, but the way they are used in it is fucking amazing. And the Lonely Assassins are fucking incredible. I've just been watching Series Three today. |

It's kind of funny thinking of it as THE Doctor Who Episode when there's so little Doctor Who in it. Still, it's an amazing episode.
