So, with Lesnar doing the UFC thing or whatever...
...will the UFC commentators refer to him as "former WWE Champion," "former pro wrestling champion," or just "some guy who used to do the fake stuff?" Will they give any credibility to the man's "sports entertainment" accomplishments? Should they?

If he was an actor, they'd probably hype that. So they should probably hype this.

They probably should credit it, I dunno that they will though. And if they do, it probably will be in a mocking fashion, something like "He's a former champion of a fake sport, but this is real and we're going to find out if he is real as well."

I thought they already put over pro wrestling as a very athletic and physically demanding form of entertainment when they announced his signing.

It would be stupid if they put it down in my opinion. If he goes into event after event and destroys other fighters after being mocked about being a "fake" it's gonna make their guys looks bad after being beaten by a "fake". If they put it down and he fails miserably they gain nothing either, because they are just doing what everyone else does by dogging on pro wrestling.
However if they ignore it, they would lose out on some hype but it would also do away with any possible embarassment if he should fail or succeed. Best thing to do is hype it a little and maybe work out an arrangement with Vince to try and do some crossbranding of PPV's or something because tv shows won't work based on the whole leavign Spike deal probably. |

lol, without the Pro Wrestler deal what do they have? Collegiate Wrestling Chamipon and Former (Failed) Minnesota Viking? Like UFC isn't up to their ass in former Wrestling Champs and Jocks.

Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college. 106-5. That is an absolutely dominating record. And of course he failed as a football player; the man is clearly a singles competitor all the way. Find another heavyweight in the UFC who has his size, strength and amateur background to boot. Find another heavyweight with his considerable speed, not to mention the sheer width of his sprawl (the man will be impossible to take down). There really aren't any. A lot of them are big, they have power, they can wrestle, but they're not as athletically sound in so many dimensions as Lesnar. Should they hype his pro wrestling career? Maybe. It doesn't help him much. When people think of pro wrestling they think of steroids and Hulk Hogan. Not exactly the essentials of toughness. I think that Lesnar just needs some fights under his belt and he'll have already hyped himself. |

Sorry meant cross promotion, get some of the other guys viewers maybe to tune in. You know get a couple UFC guys in the Raw crowd watching the show or something like that, maybe a backstage segment. Something like that that companies usually go for that is pointless and time consuming.

They should both beat up Tito Ortiz and then drink beer.
....then Austin with the Stunner. |
