Freezing question.

I use my laptop and start it up. I'm on the desktop and you know how you have icons like My Computer and stuff like that? When I click on My Computer and then my folder name, the whole thing freezes up. It says "Windows explorer is not responding" then after a few seconds "Windows is now restarting." And I used to put in a disc like a movie in my laptop and it used to auto run windows player, now it dont do that. And sometimes I go on the internet when I can and it freezes up again. What happened? Anybody know?

I can't tell you exactly what happened, it could be many things. I will however suggest a solution, either (if you system has one) do a System Restore, or if it does not - do a clean reformat. Just much easier than fucking around with it. Probably a virus or just a really clustered (fragmented) hard drive that just doesn't want to respond anymore.

How do you do a clean reformat? Is that a disc you have to buy?

VC, just saying, if I click on those links right now my comp will probably freeze. Gotta get on a diff comp to probably try those links. Right now I didnt click on them......

Another problem: I try to try to reformat the whole thing. put the disc in the drive and it wont friggen start up. Try those links or anyone got any other suggestions?

And the system restore didnt work.

So, when you put in the Windows XP disc and try to boot from the disk, the computer doesn't start?

If so, I think it's something else that's fucked, not the OS (or maybe it includes the OS, I don't know).

The computer does start, I'm using it right now.

I put in ANY disc, system restore disc, movie disc, CD, anything, and it wont play it. It sounds like its going to play but it doesnt start up. I cant even click on My Computer icon without it freezing up. IE freezes up and restarts sometimes, like I went on Myspace and it froze up. It does it most of the time. Its something that just happened overnight, didnt use to do it......

And that site, I think that may help. I tried to get on it last but but my comp (Which is actually a laptop) kept FREEZING UP DAMNIT!

I'll try it again now.
