So Christian Cage is being set up to be Kurt Angle's next challenger...
Should he win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Kurt Angle?

I am a big supporter of Kurt Angle having a nice, long establishing reign with the TNA World Heavyweight Title. I was all for Angle retaining against Sting (something which didn't happen, but might as well have). The guy is the best wrestler TNA has, and no matter what anyone holds against the guy, deserves to be their World Champion.

However, Christian Cage has been on fire recently. He's constantly been one of the best things about TNA, and they're finally realising that he can be a big face (like they originally planned for him to be), they just have to keep his personality on the same frequency of what it was when he was a heel. The guy appears to be separating himself from the leader role in a heel stable, and becoming more o a rogue character.

Christian was not the right choice to be the first TNA World Champion, despite being the last TNA-era NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The man is a recogniseable face, but was only a mid-carder in the WWE. A lot of people see him as a WWE guy, but I disagree. Sure, the man got his start there, but I think of him as being in a similar position to Steve Austin: was never allowed to crack it in the 'E, so he changes scenary and at least has a chance. Id on't consider the guy in the same vein as your Kurt Angles and Booker Ts, simply because he was never really a main eventer in the WWE.

In other words: For Christian Cage to be able to carry TNA, I believe he needs some kind of rub. Who better to give that sort of rub to him than Kurt Angle? He's a man that was a top guy in the WWE, and could theoretically pull Christian up to that level.

So should Christian Cage be TNA's next World Champion? In my opinion, yes, he very well should.

Yes he should, i havent been following TNA recently as most of it makes no sense to me,but i don't think there's anyone else on the roster that deserves the title more than either Angle or Christian right now, so the best choice for this time is Christian,considering a win over Angle would get him over even more, why not go for it?

Yeah but wait.

Ok Cage should first face Booker, Booker wins faces Kurt, but Christian interferes, 3 way between booker Kurt and Christian. Kurt retains yet again, through underhanded tactics. Angle beats Booker somehow again while Christian and Joe feud for a short period just to leave everyone wanting more, Christian finally goes face when he beats Angle and thanks the fans and stuff.

I honestly think they should just be clear-cut about the thing. Have Kurt Angle talking to Robert Roode backstage, and tell Roode that he doesn't want his help for this one. He can beat Christian, and he wants to do it without assistance, so Cage feels stupider for considering himself in Angle's league. The two have a good match, and Christian gets the clean pin with The Unprettier.

You can then have the feud build, as Roode gets involved, and the question becomes: Cage can beat Angle cleanly, but can he beat him with an unfair advantage in Angle's favour?

I don't get it. that sounds backwards to me. you build towards Cage beating Angle cleanly, not the other way around. That's how you get classic heel heat on heels. You have them beat the baby's with an unfair advantage and then when the heel doesn't have the unfair adavantage, that's when the baby wins.

I believe this would be a perfect opportunity for Matt Morgan to make a jump in the storyline. Have him align with Angle in an evil commish type of program. Then he ultimately turns on angle costing him the championship months down the line. Then you have two great fueds to elevate 2 relatively new superstars, angle vs morgan and cage vs roode.

That's the traditional way, but I've always wanted to see a feud where the face and heel can go back and forth, because they both keep trumping each other. A traditional face chase could end up great, don't get me wrong, but Christian isn't really your traditional face. Making him such was how he lost a lot of his heat when he made the jump to TNA in the first place.

Christian Cage cannot fall into the same traps as a heroic babyface. He needs to be a little smarter, and quite frankly, more heelish. An Eddie Guerrero-like character, if you will. That's how the fans will really connect to him. A chase would work, but if you have Cage lose time and time again, and just say "well, I'm coming back for more," then you really run the risk of turning him into TNA's version of Batista.

yea, I agree with you there. If I was booking it, I probably would have Christian win a match over Angle by DQ so the Title can't switch. Then Angle becomes an ass and doesn't grant him a Title shot. And Christian spends 2-3 months trying to get at Angle. You can bring in Matt Morgan there like Heenan said and have him keep not granting Christian any shots. Then finally they do the match and Cage takes it.

I like that you're bringing Morgan into things, but I don't know about this scenario. You're essentially turning Morgan heel to turn him face. It's very rollercoaster-like, if you ask me.

I wanted to see Morgan elevated earlier this year, when he was enforcer in the Samoa Joe/Christian Cage match, where Cage suffered his first submission loss in TNA. I would have been in the minority, but I'd have loved to have seen Morgan bump out Tomko & Styles, and while the distraction allows Cage to whack Samoa Joe with a steel chair, or something, Morgan gets involved, and gives Cage a Chokeslam, which gives Samoa Joe time to recover and lock in the Coquina Clutch for the victory.

A lot of people didn't want to see Morgan involved, but what this would have accomplished was this:

1) Gives Samoa Joe the first pinfall/submission victory over Christian Cage.

2) Allows Christian to retain credibility by it being a bit messy.

3) Sets up a feud between Christian Cage and Matt Morgan, where Morgan could have gotten the first clean pin over Cage.

If we were going to bring Morgan into the storyline today, I'd have Cornette get him to do some more goofy stuff, and Morgan to just say "I'm done," and he goes freelance, and gets picked up by Christian Cage as an equaliser against Robert Roode. This would seemingly put Morgan at odds with Jim Cornette, but you could have old Corny smile when Morgan leaves his side, and you can have it established that Cornette was prepping Morgan, and that this was intended all along by Cornette.

For those who don't know, Matt Morgan is a real-life pet project of Cornette. He listed Morgan in the same cast as John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton, as men who will lead the industry in a few years time. He was right about those three, whether that is for good or bad. So things look pretty good for Morgan.

I like that. Cage and Morgan have a bit of a tension left over from the stuff with Joe, so with Cage as a default face, Morgan could become a default heel. I don't mind the idea of Morgan turning, I just think two turns within a year is a little too much flip-flopping for the guy. He isn't really established enough to survive as a character like that.

I think they should be giving Morgan wins in the undercard, and keeping tally as he goes along undefeated. The undefeated streak has been done plenty of times, but I believe Goldberg was the only guy they kept a tally of. Morgan is bigger than Goldberg, better in the ring, better on the mic, and has a good arsenal of moves. I'd love to see him get some kind of push like this, so that when it comes time for him to get involved, he has some heat next to his name.

I'm already ready for him to turn, his face charecter makes me want to boo him, even though i really like him.
