Strange iPod problems

So yesterday, I uploaded a few new songs to my iPod yesterday, via iTunes.

I'm driving, plug my iPod into the adapter that goes into the cigerrete lighter and it's working fine for about a minute. Then as I'm driving, I hear clicking noise and notice that the ipod screen is moving - as if someone were turning the wheel. I remove the adapter and it stops. I plug the adapter back in and now it tells me that the iPod is not compatible with FireDog (I think that's what it said). I've never heard of FireDog before, and I've been using this adapter for months now. I unplug the iPod and do nothing more with it. This was last night.

This morning, I try turning it on and nothing. The hold button is off. I try plugging the charger from the computer into the iPod - no screen still but I hear this strange clicking noise... sounds like a summer time beattle or something... WTF. My computer or iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod or acknowledge it.

Does anybody possibly have the slightest idea what might be up - in addition to that my iPod is probably f'd.
