*BDCA* ROFL @ Smackdown main event at No Way Out (SD spoilers maybe?)

From http://rajah.com/base/node/10913

Quote:
Two huge matches were just announced at tonight's SmackDown tapings from Reading, PA for next month's No Way Out pay-per-view. First it was announced that Rey Mysterio will get a rematch at the World Heavyweight Championship against Edge. It was then announced that there will be a SmackDown Elimination Chamber match for a title shot at WrestleMania XXIV. The participants were revealed as Big Daddy V, The Great Khali, Finlay, MVP, The Undertaker, and Batista.

Below is the updated card for WWE No Way Out:

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

RAW Elimination Chamber Match
Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. Umaga

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match
Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. Finlay vs. MVP vs. The Undertaker and Batista

Career Threatening Match
Ric Flair vs. Mr Kennedy
…this is a joke, right?

smackdown does have good storylines and all but the star power on raw is far better and the comparison between the ec's would just bring that out.

Taker and Batista will carry that match, no doubt. But, how the hell does Khali logically get into the chamber, lasting 1 minute in the Rumble? Meanwhile Kane's not included, who was in the Final 4!

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena
-----------------------------
Wait, what? Even if I was part of the weird Cena-Rumble Fanclub, taking the title shot at NWO is weird. At worst it's the WWE shooting Cena back to the top as soon as possible, at it's best it's a suprisingly good match that sets up something strong at Mania. Either way, I don't care for either of these guys, especially right now.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
-------------------------
Again, what? Didn't Rey lose cleanly enough? Maybe Edge will challenge him to get revenge, so this will make sense. Still, we just saw this. Hopefully this will be some sort of gimmick match. Part of me wants Rey to win.

RAW Elimination Chamber Match
Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. Umaga
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This, I like for the most part. JBL being in it dissappoints me for so many reasons, everything else is fine and dandy cluster material. Any could win and I'd be fine.

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match
Big Daddy V vs. The Great Khali vs. Finlay vs. MVP vs. Undertaker vs. Batista
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never thought I'd say Batista is one of the bright spots of a match, but the first three I hate in this match, the last three I like.

Career Threatening Match
Ric Flair vs. Mr Kennedy
----------------------
I wish Kennedy had any chance of winning or/and that he was in the Elimination Chamber. It's fun for what it is, but it's the absolutely wrong time. Much like the MVP situation.

I don't really see why everyone is freaking out, like this is the worst idea in the world.

Think about Survivor Series; 10-men, 5 heels, 5 faces, thrown together in one match. Often there is more than 1 Survivor Series match on the PPV.

This is like Survivor Series, only with 4 less men per match. And it's really not a bad idea, considering the bullshit Rumble ending we had to deal with this year. With the thin roster Smackdown/ECW has to work with, who else should have taken those spots instead? Elijah Burke? John Morrison? These guys would look like ants being squashed by Batista and Taker. At least Khali and Big Daddy V offer a visual conflict that's believable and more dramatic.

Why is Punk not in the elimination chamber match, I know he is ECW, but he has been also wrestling on Smackdown much like Big Daddy Bitch Tits, and he has a score to settle with Edge, why not throw him in instead.

Difference is though that the traditional SS Match isn't a huge gimmick match like the EC. The SS Matches are just basic Tag Team rules but with more people. I can see your point that people shouldnt be too concerned with there being more then one of the same gimmick match in the same night but I just feel there is a world of difference between the SS Match and the EC. It'd be like having two HIAC Matches in one night. Its usually used as a way to resolve conflict between several people fueding over the belt. However with it being one for Smackdown and one for Raw I can see how it works.

As for the Smackdown Chamber Taker or Batista to win it. Hopefully they won't squash MVP too badly.

I can only assume we'll be seeing Punk vs. Chavo in the ECW Title Match at No Way Out.

Anyway...I want Khali and V to be the first two entries. Them having to compete for five minutes would create a sucking black hole that would engulf the entire chamber.

The Raw match is rather predictable. Jericho and JBL will be using this match to continue there fued . Hardy is probably getting bumped down to a fued with Umaga and HBK went over HHH the last time in the EC match so HHH wins. ok

But Smackdown however, might be up to something. They've been pushing Hornswoggle and the McMahons and Finlay alot lately. If Finlay won w/ or without the help of Honswoggle, it could make a nice fued involving Vince McMahon ( cause he loves the TV time ) and backing Finlay and Hornswoggle against Edge and the Guerreros. And you have a intresting little sidebar story with the Teddy Long deal. Finlay wins this totally.

This is kind of an odd idea. It's not entirely bad, except for some of the SD participants like the fatty and Khali. What have they done to put themselves in the title picture? And so much for Punk for Jeff Hardy challenging Edge now.

Why? So Taker and Batista can squash his ass and make him look weak? Big Daddy V and Khali have nothing to lose by doing the big job to those 2 guys, but CM Punk, one of the best up and comers with the most momentum behind him right now, does have a lot to lose in a high profile loss like that.

It makes much better sense to have Punk face Chavo or Benjamin at NWO and not only get a win, but put on a good match.

That pretty much explains why bdv and khali are in the match. Even if it makes SD look weak in star power.

If it wouldn't be a logistical nightmare, I'd suggest that WWE show up TNA by having a PPV with a cage match, a classic blue-bar cage match, a HIAC, a Punjabi Prison match, and an EC.

It does seem a bit like overkill, but I think it will work out. It does feel kind of special if you ask me. As long as the next time they do a Chamber they have a strong card around it, because you're running the risk of whoring out the match too much.

I really think Kane should be in the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber. It just makes sense for numerous reasons. He was in the Final Four in the Royal Rumble, he's a former WWE Champion, and he and The Undertaker defeated Big Daddy V and Mark Henry on SmackDown!. Plus, Kane is just more over than BDV will ever be. Kane should challenge V for his spot, and go over, and add some more star power to the match.

As for how the SD! EC would then be booked, I think Finlay and MVP should start, because they are the strongest two wrestlers in the match. The Undertaker then enters, and does his thing. Batista comes in at #4, and Kane follows at #5. Kane Chokeslams MVP, and he is out. Khali enters last, and gets rid of the tired Finlay with the Khali Vice Grip. The Undertaker and Kane grab each other by the throat, and Kane wins the stand-off, giving his brother a Chokeslam. He then walks into a Spinebuster from Batista, however, and is eliminated. Khali finds himself double-teamed by Taker and Tista, and finds himself lifted out of the corner in a Batista Bomb, as Taker flies off the cell behind them with a flying clothesline. Khali is pinned by both Batista and Undertaker.

Batista and The Undertaker have a hoss stare-down, as Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman remind us that one of these two men is going to WrestleMania to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship. They do their spots, and Batista hits a Spinebuster on The Undertaker, and then shakes the ropes. The Undertaker sits up, however, and Batista turns around into a Tombstone for the pin. Edge vs. The Undertaker is scheduled for WrestleMania.

Earlier in the night, Theodore Long has ruled that Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins are barred from ringside during Edge's match against Rey Mysterio, and that if Chavo Guerrero appears at ringside, he will be stripped of the ECW Championship. Edge goes in to face Rey Mysterio alone. During the match, the lights go off, and a gong sounds, and when they turn back on, Edge is knocked down, and the referee is groggy. Rey Mysterio climbs to the top rope, and hits his new splash variant for the pin to become the new World Heavyweight Champion in a shocker. We get Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker scheduled for WrestleMania.

After that, you go one of two ways with the SmackDown! main event. You either have Edge win the belt back on an edition of SmackDown! or Saturday Night's Main Event, and do Edge vs. Undertaker, with some more heat added, or you have Edge confront Chavo about not helping him out, and Chavo says the ECW Championship means more than Edge does. Rey Mysterio would then hold onto the WHC, and job to The Undertaker at Mania. Edge would go into a Triple Threat against Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk, who was screwed out of the ECW Championship at No Way Out.

As for the RAW Elimination Chamber: Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels start, with Jeff Hardy entering third, Triple H fourth, JBL fifth and Umaga sixth. All six men are still in the match once the entry periods are done, which would be a first in the history of the match. Everyone gangs up on the fresh and dominant Umaga, with HBK stunning him with Sweet Chin Music, JBL blasting him with a Clothesline from Hell, knocking him into a Triple H Pedigree. Jericho then hits a Lionsault on the fallen Umaga, and HBK soars in with a Flying Elbow, and Jeff Hardy hits a Swanton Bomb. Hardy and Jericho get the pin on Umaga, with Triple H and Shawn Michaels adding extra weight to them, while JBL waits for the pin to go down, and then gives HBK a Clothesline from Hell, turning him inside out.

JBL is the second man eliminated with a Codebreaker from Chris Jericho. JBL attacks Y2J after the fall, and gives him a Clothesline from Hell, knocking him through a cell. HBK and Triple H have a blow-up, and HBK gets Triple H in his figure four move. Jeff Hardy then flys in with a Swanton Bomb on HBK, and gets the pin as Triple H pretty much lets it happen. Jeff Hardy and Triple H go at it for a bit, but Triple H's legs are done, and Jeff manages to go low, and then hit a Twist of Fate, followed by a Swanton Bomb from the top of a cell onto Triple H. It's down to the unlikely combination of Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho. Y2J gets Hardy in the Walls of Jericho, and Hardy gets to the ropes, but Jericho does not break. Hardy eventually passes out, and Jericho drags him back into the center of the ring and is declared the winner via submission.

The WWE Championship match closes the show, with John Cena forcing Randy Orton to tap out to the STFU. John Cena's fourth WWE Championship win is cut short, however, as Chris Jericho hits John Cena with a steel chair, and then declares "Welcome to...WrestleMania...is...Jericho!"

Neither has any chance of happening, but just look at the stories of the matches:

WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Chris Jericho
This one goes back to 2002, technically, when John Cena handed Chris Jericho an embarrassing loss, before Cena has even won his first championship. The two feuded quite intensely in 2005, with Cena actually causing Chris Jericho's two-year hiatus from the WWE. Cena is now WWE Champion again, and Chris Jericho has a new badass attitude. The match is just as personal as it is professional.

Heading into the match, John Cena plays the same character he always has, and Chris Jericho is basically an extension of his "angry at JBL" character, only he's angry at Cena. Jericho talks about how he's going to "save us" from Cena, and complete his 2nd coming at WrestleMania. The guys would presumingly be behind Jericho, while the women and children will be screaming for Cena, as always.

The match sees a double turn, where John Cena aligns himself with Vince McMahon, and Jericho is screwed out of the WWE Championship. Cena goes 5-0 at WrestleMania, and Jericho has more reason to want revenge on Cena.

World Heavyweight Championship: Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker
This match does not have a story built, per se, but the story is in the characters. Rey Mysterio is the masked little guy, and The Undertaker is the undead big guy. They're both insanely popular, both are completely different as far as wrestling styles go, and they've never really faced off before.

Heading into the match, Rey Mysterio says his mind is not on the legendary streak of The Undertaker, but proving that he deserves to be World Heavyweight Champion. Mysterio won the WHC with The Undertaker's help, and he wants to prove he did not need it, and that he's his own man. The Undertaker also has his mind on the World Heavyweight Title, and he tells Rey Mysterio that he will rest in peace, and all that crap.

The match could work some great spots, like The Undertaker not being able to hit old school because Rey is too short (OK, that would just be funny), and Mysterio coming in with a "Droppin' the Dime 2" (springboard senton thing), with Taker catching him and hitting him with a Last Ride. The Undertaker goes 16-0, and wins his second World Heavyweight Championship, and sixth World Title overall, I think, but he gives Rey Mysterio the "wow, that was surprisingly tough" seal of approval.

ECW Championship: Chavo Guerrero vs. Edge vs. CM Punk
The story heading into this match is three-fold. Chavo and CM Punk have their rivalry, Edge and Punk have their rivalry, and by this point, Edge and Chavo now have their personal issues.

Originally the match can start as Chavo vs. Edge, with Edge reminding Chavo that he's never been pinned or had to submit at WrestleMania, but then Punk is added, and it becomes apparent that Edge does not need to take the fall to lose the match. You also have the story of Edge having held every single championship available to him, except the ECW Championship.

The match would be a lot of fun, I think. All three guys can wrestle, and all three guys can keep up with a fast pace. The Money in the Bank Ladder Match would be earlier in the evening, but I can see a ladder encore, as there are no disqualifications in your WWE Triple Threat Match (although the WWE still sometimes pretends there are). Edge going over by pinning Chavo keeps his win-loss record at WrestleMania looking fantastic, and CM Punk can then chase Edge for the ECW Championship. This would also nearly complete Edge's resume. He'd only have the Royal Rumble left to win before he's done everything. You could also go with Punk pinning Chavo to win back the ECW Championship.

Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
These two explode at No Way Out, and they have that long history between them. A heel turn for Triple H is needed, in my opinion, because he just works so much better in the heel role.

The match would be a lot of fun, as these two could have a great match together in their sleep. This would also be the first time they've faced off at WrestleMania in one-on-one competition. Triple H has lost the past few times he's been at a WrestleMania, so I think he's about due for a win. Maybe he can join Vince's new alliance with John Cena?

You can also have Batista face The Great Khali, as they'd have tension brewing from No Way Out. It would be an ugly match, but Batista can just run in, destroy Khali, and leave looking dominant.
