Nah, pretty sure they are some of the most talented 'newer' musicians around. Though I'm curious as to why you 'cant stand them'.

I can understand if it isn't your style of music. Personally, they are my favorite band ever.. they sound perfect live, and Matt Bellamy is absolutely an amazing musician. Playing guitar while singing isn't easy by any means, and their live music is some of my favorite stuff.

Didn't really care for them the first time I heard them, but then my musical tastes started to change when I got past all the 'generic radio crap' and actually started looking at talent and started to see how much better certain bands really were than others. To put it in simpler terms.. Muse is an orgasm for my ears. His voice is flawless, and their style of mixing electronica, classical, and hard rock is just awesome.

They're releasing a live CD/DVD soon from their recent show at Wembley Stadium. Gonna be titties. Can't wait for their next actual new CD though.

Tell me you've at least listened to more than just radio singles.

Anyways.. don't see how they are that overrated. They don't seem to be all that big in the US. I know only a few people personally that have heard anything more than 3 or 4 songs which were all singles and only 2 who actually like them (more than just listening to a song when it comes on). We're in a relatively decent sized city and I haven't heard a Muse song on any of the rock stations in a good 4 or 5 months, and when they do play them it's always been the same 1 or 2 songs.

Overrated is a term reserved usually for those who are mediocre but receive all kinds of attention. I consider Muse to be EXTREMELY talented and deserving of the many awards in the UK they've gotten, including the 10 "Best Live Band" awards since 2002. The singer/guitarist and drummer especially. And while their bass player isn't really a god at bass, he is still very good.. especially considering when the band was formed, he played the drums and they asked him to learn to play bass for them instead. Top it off with complete originality and godly live shows.. Yeah, not seeing how any of that is overrated.

I should note that I have a tendency to look farther into a lot of music than I probably should.. so I take a little more offense to even smaller comments which weren't really meant to be all that insulting. And like I said earlier.. I can accept if someone isn't into a certain type of music.. or a certain sound in general. But taking true talent for granted irks me.

For instance I couldn't care less if someone insulted.. say Linkin Park. While I like to listen to them periodically and I -do- enjoy it.. I understand that they're definitely not the most talented individuals.. and while original in concept, they have a rather generic sound and -are- somewhat overrated.

Regardless.. here is some awesomeness for this thread. I'm hooked on Origin of Symmetry right now. Can't get enough of it. Had it on repeat for the last 5 hours off and on.

I find them listenable but horribly overrated.

I won't turn them off if they come on the radio, but I'd never buy an album. Much like the last big thing Franz Ferdiand, I just don't get it.

out of all their stuff i could make an ep or perhaps album of songs of theirs i liked, which is ok.lots of dross i don't care for though.

To be fair, they're far better than FF.

I own all the records that have been released to the US (I don't know if there are EPs or obscure British only records or some shit, nor do I really care, this is just a disclaimer in case some zealous fucknut decides to bust out something stupid and anal), and they're pretty good, but the praise they're issued is just insane.

I don't understand how they are overrated either Kane Knight. Most of the accolades they get is based on their live performance, which truly is one of the best live performances around. I've seen it. Trust me when I say they deserve said accolades. And they really aren't popular enough where you could even call them overrated. I've met just as many people who either don't like them or have never heard of them, as I have fans of the band.
